Clicking the knob is what flip/flops the frequency. When you say "the arrow", do you mean the graphic that has the double-headed arrow and says push? The knobs should turn independently. It sounds like your friend's module's knobs might be damaged in some way. Get in touch with our support team...

What do you have your SIL setting set to? And did you update the transponder (it's a separate explicit step) when going to 14.0?

Any chance you have another USB stick on any of the other ports? You can only have one USB memory stick connected to the display at a time (but you can have Video or wi-fi connected simultaneously). Which USB port are you using?

It's maybe a bit more likely to be a power issue if SkyView Network isn't seeing it at all. If it were getting power, and just one of the data pairs were not connected properly, you'd see it on the network but with an error annunciating which data wires were broken or miswired.

This isn't the persistent box you're looking for, and doesn't automatically follow you around, but if you nudge the map cursor off the aircraft you'll get a readout in the info bar of the elevation of that point on the terrain and your current delta from it.
