    Brad Thurow

Got the email today. "leads the team that develops the Dynon product line, which spans avionics for experimental amateur-built, light sport, and type-certificated aircraft.". Hopefully Brad's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd priorities are to add aircraft to the autopilot AML - we really need some good news...

HDX Certified - Clearing the Logs

Anyone know how to? The experimental Installation Guide ("Clearing Data Logs") says the option is available at SETUP MENU > SYSTEM SETUP > DATA LOG SETUP > CLEAR ALL DATA, but that menu doesn't exist in the certified firmware.

    Map Zoom - CW/CCW

Yep, my MB is also CCW to zoom in. Dynon did good by giving us the option!

    Map Zoom - CW/CCW

That's great Trevor. Thank you! I remembered reading it but just couldn't find it. Search failed me and my eyes gloss over after reading these manuals over and over. I thought I might have seen it in the Avidyne IFD manual and asked over there (gotta get the HDX and IFD540 twisting in the...

    Map Zoom - CW/CCW

Re: Improved: Map zoom/range feature can be reversed so that clockwise rotation "zooms in" to the map (decreases range) to suit user preference. Anyone know how to do this? (HDX) Thanks, JJ

Compass Calibration: Looking for Alternate Method

Compass roses can only be presumed good when they are laid out. Back when transport category aircraft had a flux valve (magnetic azimuth detectors, or flux gates, etc.) in each wingtip, to install one, the aircraft was brought down to a compass rose, which was certified annually to be free of...

Compass Calibration: Looking for Alternate Method

I don't know the answer to your question, but have you considered taxiing N, S, E, & W, using a GPS? On the ground, track = heading, and even a handheld GPS (or tablet/phone) would be a whole lot more accurate than a tablet/phone compass. Google Earth shows a pretty good sized ramp on the SE...

    Seattle Avionics Data

Then why did they discontinue their lifetime subscription offers?

    Seattle Avionics Data

Yep, I remember it. Bought it as soon as it was available and I had technical problems immediately. Was told that my two year old desktop was too old to run it reliably. A few years later, after I had dropped the data subscription, they came out with an update that fixed quite a few bugs, but...

    Seattle Avionics Data

Could be and usually would in these situations, but I had heard that Dynon subsidizes Seattle Avionics to get the data at $99.

    Seattle Avionics Data

With new ownership, will it continue to be $99/year?

Does traffic from a Garmin GTX345 show on the HDX Certified?

I'm generally down on Garmin equipment because of their closed nature, but the 345 appears to be a great ADS-B IN/OUT solution, usable by everything you could put in the panel, EXCEPT Dynon equipment. Dynon's 472 is the only solution for the Skyview, but it will not display on IFD or GNS...

    USB size?

Skyview is USB 2, isn't it?

    Skyview Wish List

    1. Place EMS Fuel Quantity and/or Fuel Flow in the RS232 Icarus, Shadin, or Aviation sentences, whichever appropriately mimics JPI and other Engine Monitors (I can't remember which protocol they used and I'm too lazy to look it up). Navigators (IFDx40, GNSx30) need this to calculate fuel to...

    Skyview HDX in a VTail

I helped an A&P friend install the HDX system and 3 axis AP in his 1976 V35B and it works great.

    172 new install

I wrote them last week and asked if they were going to do it this year, and they said, "no more lifetimes, it's the end of an era."

    EMS - EGT Difference

David, normalize simply places all EGT bars at the same level, to make it easy to discern an outlier. Actual: Normalized: Normalize (and range marks) present a visual means of detecting when an EGT goes rogue. My comments stand. I am looking for an audio annunciation to tell me when a...

    EMS - EGT Difference

David, Normalise would be fine too but again, useless, unless you can see where one EGT has moved away from the rest of the pack without having to visually scan for it (DIFF). I'd rather hire a piece of code to do that for me. I like looking out the window and getting audio annunciations...

    EMS - EGT Difference

We'll have to disagree on usefulness. I found it very useful on my previous O-360-A1F6D when it would alert me that something was wrong when there were no other symptoms. On Lycoming engines with a D prefix, which use either the Bendix D-2000 and D-3000 magneto, 240 degree differences were...
