    Ammeter giving almost random readings

Hi John There's gotta be something we're not seeing here - hard to troubleshoot by 'remote' control and you are obviously well versed in electronics - maybe a case of 'can't see the wood for the trees' ;) As probably mentioned before, I have done many installs with Jabby engines and don't see...

    Ammeter giving almost random readings

John Clarification - the capacitor should be on the volt reg output to main bus, close as possible to regulator. Other than that I make sure any grounding is good & add an extra engine to main ground bus wire, just to be sure. Another issue is the push on connectors on the alternator output...

What does a Garmin X96 add to SkyView?

Basically - no, not yet but it will happen soon I believe. Here - http://www.dynonavionics.co/docs/news_technology_preview.html Jake J ;)

    EDC-D10A calibration

Ken I'd just pinput the MAG INCL etc, then do the compass cal - should work fine after that. Jake J

    Jumpy RPM-indication

Try the standard settings as given in the D120 manuals ie 1/4 or 1/2 or total number of cylinders eg 1.5, 3.0 or 6.0 HTH Jake J

    Ammeter giving almost random readings

John Did you fit an Electrolytic capacitor (10,000uF @50V) to the alternator output ? - this has fixed any issues I've had with the permanent magnet alternators. Jake J :)

D-180,HS-34 with SL-30 audio alert connections

Just connect it to your phone jack (audio HI) but you may need a resistor of about 100ohm as well. Jake J

    D10A & HS34 DSAB dropout

" For some reason the DSAB is dropping the HS34 out of the network on a seemingly random basis. If I reconfigure it sometimes comes back. If I turn the D10A off and reconfigure it always comes back...for awhile. This is happening with the airplane static so I know it isn't a vibration issue...

    Separate Power Wires?

FWIW - there are 'basics' with wiring installations. 1. use only low loss antenna cables 2. use shilded or twisted wire when it's called out for in manuals 3. ALL audio and radio grounds should go to one point. I've mixed (when I had no choice) cabling on many aircraft and have no 'issues'...

    Recurring Remote Compass issue

(finally re-pinned both connectors and "squeezed" the female pins, thought I had it licked.) PP That's what I'd be checking again - I recently found a bad Dsub connector, it wasn't allowing the sockets to 'click' home so it was free to move out when mating to the radio - after 7 years this is...

    Recommended Thresholds with Jabiru 3300A

Casi CHT - redline 175C, Cruise 150C max EGT - I'd use the temp you get in cruise (average of all cyl) and add 50C to that to get a max figure. You are really only looking for trends as the mixture isn't variably adjusted anyway. Others may have differing ideas. HTH Jake J

Two tachometers installation With Jabiru 3300A

    1. correct 2. yes, but fused - I find the 100k ohm size gives best rpm stability. Above is easy to do - that way if one method of rpm stops you still have the other - it's called redundancy ;) Jake J

    Remote compass and ADAHRS

darinh This is not meant to 'flame' just trying to help. I install avionics and never had an issue with the Dynon magnetometers in rag & tube aircraft - you may like to revisit your proposed installation ;) (The magnatometer does not function so well in a chromoly fuselage like in a Kitfox...

Two tachometers installation With Jabiru 3300A

I'd use the transducer wires to run the 2nd tacho and use one of the alternator output wires as the primary D120 tach - you may need a resistor on this wire (Dynon says it's usually not necessary) if the rpm is erratic or try swapping the wires first if that is the case. HTH Jake J
