    PULS/REV tach setting?

I'm talking to myself, but figured it might save Dynon some typing. I used an optical tach to check the RPM today, and the D-180 was reading half what it was supposed to be. The PULS/REV setting was 2, and I changed it to 1. Now the optical tach, and Dynon agree. I don't understand why one...

Flight Deck 180 with Garmin 327 Transponder

Hi Mark, I also have a D-180, and GTX-327, and my 327 always has a number after pressure altitude when the Dynon is on. I don't recall the exact setup of the comm, but I'll certainly look it up if necessary. I suspect Dynon will answer this before it comes to that though. Cheers, Rusty

    Firmware update and user settings?

That's good news Mel. Thanks. The upgrade went fine, except that I spent all day showing the HSI (D-180) off to people :) Cheers, Rusty (one week to inspection, two weeks to first flight)

    PULS/REV tach setting?

Greetings, I may answer this question myself at the airport today, but as verification, what factor is required for a 4-cyl Lyclone with standard mags, both L and R hooked to the EMS inputs? I would expect that this should be 2, since that's the number of cylinders that fire for each rev...

    Firmware update and user settings?

Greetings, When you do a firmware update, does the system remember your temp and pressure limit settings? I'm just wondering if I need to document my settings well enough to be able to restore them easily with future updates. Thanks, Rusty

    Remote Compass D180 Install

I'd also like to add that you need to keep the EDC clear of the battery cable as well, because the current in the cable will cause problems. Imagine how I know this ::) Hopefully, you're talking about putting the EDC 24" behind the battery, so the main cable won't have to pass by the EDC on...

Thanks. The timing works well, since the plane's just about ready for final assembly. Cheers, Rusty

Is there any word on when the bright screen upgrades will start? Cheers, Rusty (hope it's not chicken noodle soup)

    Airspeed in the datalog output

The EFIS data will be useful for initial flight testing, and for documenting the effect of any modifications later on. What's more valuable to me is the EMS data. I have a friend with a JPI engine monitor in his RV-8, and JPI has a great datalogging system built into their monitor. In the...

    RV10 panel

This is hilarious. I've noticed a bit of a comedy streak recently :) Cheers, Rusty (feeling inadequate with only one D-180 in my RV-8 panel)

    D-180 OAT?

Thanks for the reply. I had noticed that the 2-wire was about half the price of the 3-wire, and figured that was most of the reason for using it. It still seems like a waste of a GP input on the EMS side, especially now that Dynon is adding so many cool new functions for the GP inputs. I...

    D-180 OAT?

Greetings, I originally installed the 2-wire OAT that came with the D-180, and now that I'm in the process of hooking everything up, I've realized that I can't spare the GP input that the OAT would use on the EMS side of the D-180. I've got a 3-wire OAT on order, and plan to connect it via the...

    more datalogging questions

Hi Waiter, Thanks very much for the reply. I was actually just about to report the success of all my Excel training yesterday. With some tutoring, I've now recorded a macro to import the data directly from the captured raw data file. The data goes into proper columns, with correct headings...

    more datalogging questions

What great documentation! I never dreamed that sort of info would be in there :-[ Sorry for asking one of those RTFM question, but in my defense, I've only looked at the installation manual so far. Thanks, Rusty (remember, a bad excuse is better than no excuse)

    more datalogging questions

Hey, an Excel spreadsheet would be just fine  :) I know you don't have the software setup to do all the nice plots and graphs and such that some EMS vendors have, and I believe that's one of the reasons that's often given for the lack of a datalogging feature.  My hope is to at least be able to...

    more datalogging questions

Greetings, I'm playing with a device from Anticyclone systems that captures RS232 data, and have been able to capture data from the EMS side of my D180. One line of raw data looks like this...

    2006 Oshkosh Announcements

This is certainly excellent news. I'm about to wire up my panel, and was just telling someone that I would go ahead and hook the GPS up to the D180, because eventually there would be a need for it. This is just about perfect timing. I'm really happy to hear about the screen too, and will be...

    Ammeter Shunt

Thanks to the miracle of "search" I found a thread that answers this question: http://dynonavionics.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1136243818/0#0 I would also like to thank the miracle of "modify", which allows me to look smarter than I did with my original post  ;D Cheers, Rusty

    Internal Data Logging

This could be a very timely question. I'm in the process of building the panel with a D180, and really want some data logging ability. I have a standalone RS232 logger, but getting it set up to work is going to be a fairly big project, with no guarantee of success. If there's a data logging...

Is a wet compass still required?

Greetings, I know this topic has been hashed out on a number of different forums, but have we reached a consensus of whether you are required to have a wet compass, if you already have an EFIS with an EDC? I'm thinking that the EFIS should satisfy the regs, but I fear that any particular DAR...
