AOA Alarm stays on after landing

As I could not fix this I have had the stall warning set to a high AOA so it does not come on during landing. But I should fix this. I now know it is not the audio warning that is the problem but the AOA which shows flashing red all the time after landing. That is part of the EMS not the EFIS...

AOA Alarm stays on after landing

Thanks for that. I have done the recalibration twice now with the same result. The only way I seem to be able to stop the STALL STALL continuously after landing is to put the MIN SPEED above the stalling speed. I get no stall warning but that is not critical in the RV-8 which has good natural...

AOA Alarm stays on after landing

RV-8 with D180/AP74/HS34 and heated pitot. I often get a brief STALL/STALL call out just as the aircraft is touching down in a near 3-point attitude. But recently that call out and the flashing red triangle on the AOA display often (but not always) stay on after landing, all the way through...

D-180 aileron trim not shown on EFIS

brilliant - that solves the lost trim - I was only looking at the EFIS page not the EMS.

D-180 aileron trim not shown on EFIS

A more basic question then please - The pilot guide only mentions the elevator trim scale on the EFIS and the installation guide mentions only elevator and rudder. Is there/should there be an aileron trim scale on the EFIS once I have followed the configuration and set up instructions? John

Airspeed indicates 22 knots in the hangar

OK thanks - that seems to have fixed it

Airspeed indicates 22 knots in the hangar

Whilst doing the calibration of the D-180 (see my other post), after maybe 20 minutes the IAS changed from zero to 22 kts and hunted about slightly. The ASI still read zero. Cannot fathom why this might be. Any clues please?

D-180 aileron trim not shown on EFIS

Set up my trim calibration today. Both elevator and aileron trim set up as per manual using GP1 and 2 - with the numbers changing as the trims were run to ends and center so the connections are good. However when I display the EFIS screen, I expected to see both elevator and aileron trim as...

    D180 strange readings

About to move the RV-8 to the field for wing fit. Powered up today in the workshop and the altitude says 30,000ft, IAS 380kts and OAT -48! It was normal last week! Any offers for a place to start fault finding? John

HS34 config problem - help please

Thanks Dynon, I made up some cables and hooked the HS-34 up to the laptop on the bench and the support program found the device so as you say the fault must have been in the wiring. I found the tx and rx lines reversed behind the panel - fixed and now the system powers up fine. Many thanks - John

HS34 config problem - help please

Thanks Jacques. Yes indeed I have done the D-180/AP-74 update via the EFIS connector and that was fine but then attempted to update the HS-34 via its connector as described above. Page 7-12 is acually from the D10A guide. I am using page 9-13 from the D-180 manual. John

HS34 config problem - help please

Hi Folks, RV-8 with D-180 +HS34 +AP74 with 2 servos connected and powered. No other avionics fitted yet. Still building the avionics. Have updated the D-180 and AP-74 without problem to V5.5.0 but unable to update HS-34. After start D-180 shows red network configuration error message which...

    RS232 connection from GD40 to D-180

Adding a GD40 carbon monoxide detector to my D180 &HS34 panel. The GPS is connected to the HS34. What is the best connection for the RS232 from/to the GD40 please? There seems to be options through the EMS and EFIS connectors. John

    RV-8 pitch servo installation?

Before I can install my Dynon autopilot in my UK RV-8 I have to wrote a modification proposal for approval (UK aircraft are not "experimental" so if we add something that is not in the Vans drawings we need approval). Please can Support tell me what specification of material the pitch servo...

D180+HS34+AP74 - both needed with only one GPS?

Re: D180+HS34+AP74 - both needed with only one GPS That's really helpful thanks folks, We are not going to install VOR, ILs or any other radio navaid nor do we have a Garmin 430/530 so we don't need any of that functionality.  We have a single Flymap F7 GPS...

D180+HS34+AP74 - both needed with only one GPS?

For our RV-8 under construction we bought a D-180 with 2 servos and an AP34.  Having now read the product documentation, studied the configuration and discussed options with tech support we realised we needed an AP74 to achieve the AP functionality we wanted (just like an Airbus please).  We...

AN3H-17A Bolt orientation on RV7 aileron bellcrank

Re: AN3H-17A Bolt orientation on RV7 aileron bellc Thanks that is helpful. The bellcrank is indeed a single welded component. I find if I put the bolt in the other way around, the fit into the bellcrank arm is on the taper between the threads and the shank so the bolt does not locate to a...

AN3H-17A Bolt orientation on RV7 aileron bellcrank

Re: AN3H-17A Bolt orientation on RV7 aileron bellc Thanks for that but the state of assembly has no impact on this and I have all the components in my bench just now with nothing assembled.  The problem is not with the bellcrank attachment brackets but with the bellcrank itself which is a...

AN3H-17A Bolt orientation on RV7 aileron bellcrank

Re: AN3H-17A Bolt orientation on RV7 aileron bellc Luis did not get a reply to his question since January.  I have exactly the same issue on our RV-8.  I just drilled the aileron bellcrank to #11 as per instructions to take the AN3H-17A bolt that attaches the servo arm. But the 1 7/8 inch bolt...

RV-8 roll servo - drilling the aileron bellcrank

I just drilled the aileron bellcrank to #11 to take the AN3H-17A bolt that attaches the servo arm.  But the 1 7/8 inch bolt won't go in the hole because the other leg of the bellcrank that supports the aileron pushrod gets in the way. I am not keen on making the hole oversize or oval to...
