I updated my FltplanGo app (yes, I should have done it a while back) and on my last flight I had WX and traffic from Skyview using EXTERNAL >ADS-B DEVICES >CUSTOM UNIT with port 4000. The only issue was that my tail number kept popping up as a traffic alert. Gotta figure how to get around this...

The lawsuit concerns the uAvinoix 978UAT OUT device(s) while the ADSB-472 is an ADS-B IN device. GARMIN does not have an exclusive patent on ADSB-IN devices. Apples and oranges so I personally doubt it will have a significant impact on the ADSB-472. 8-)

How often should the SykView Magnetic Compass be checked for accuracy? FAA AC 43-215 states: "Owners/operators should swing an aircraft (1) at periodic intervals as recommended by the manufacturer, ..." but I can't find any recommended timeframe in the SkyView documentation. :-/

Has the VLOC part ever worked/displayed on the SkyView? You could be receiving the GPS data over RS232 (if connected) instead of ARINC-429. If so that is a big step in troubleshooting and fixing the issue. 8-)

How about a control head or adapter so we can install a DYNON radio in a standard 1.35" x 6.3" instrument panel cut out. Would make it easier for those of us that have a standard panel. 8-)

FWIW: I got a call from DYNON a few hours later informing me that I should expect my new unit in about 1 month. They had my information and told me there was nothing to do on my part. Superb customer service like this is one of the main reasons I went with the DYNON equipment. :D

I called DYNON today to ask about my replacement unit and they transferred me to somebody that couldn't answer the phone so I had to leave a message on the voice mail. As soon as I hear something back I will let everyone know. My plane goes into annual on May 31st and I would like to know the...

You are correct, I read -470 not -472. You will see 1090 traffic being transmitted. 8-)

No it will not. The SV-ADSB-472 receives the information via 978Mhz which is only available in the US. 8-)

Simple risk management. You are at a significantly greater risk to die from a car accident than from somebody hacking your SkyView.

So I guess you don't drive on a public highway either. ;)

IMHO This is mostly a non issue. At the most, it is an extremely small risk since many home/hangar WIFI have firewalls. Add to this that the download only requires INTERNET connectivity for a minute or two at the most. After the download, it would be disconnected from the INTERNET for another 28...

Because RF wave propagation is so much more complicated than that. You can't even begin to answer the why on a forum like this so I won't even try. Just suffice that this idea isn't a very good option. 8-)

I upgraded my SkyView display and -472 firmware yesterday. Today I did two 1hr flights and the "old" -472 with the upgraded firmware worked significantly better. I had no drop outs but didn't have anything to compare the data against so I don't know if I was displaying all the available ADS-B...

Where are the instructions for setting up the angle of attack audio only option? :-?

So how do we go about getting our "old" -472 replaced/upgraded to a "new" -472 unit? Do we have to contact DYNON or will DYNON contact us? :-?

Great news. I will wait to replace my "old" -472 as soon as the "new" ones become available. Good question. I hope it uses the same mounting bracket as the "old" one does. 8-)
