A workaround for that is to do it on the iPad and send to panel. Not the same, but still better than creating and inserting manually.Add the ability to rubber band the magenta line on a current flight plan over a new waypoint and insert. The current method of having to create, name and save a new waypoint, then insert that new waypoint into the current flight plan is way too cumbersome.
Makes me wish I had an iPad!A workaround for that is to do it on the iPad and send to panel. Not the same, but still better than creating and inserting manually.
- Programmable altitudes on flight plan
- Glide ring that accounts for terrain (like the AFS glide ring does)
- More/better support for remote equipment (radios, audio panels)
- A budget audio panel in the current intercom form factor (basically, add Bluetooth phone/music support and better dual Com radio support).
- An all-in-one Mode-C/978 Out transponder, as an alternative to Mode S/1090ES.
- Integrated OnSpeed functionality
+1Give us the ability to name, enter and store our favorite, personally selected radio frequencies (i.e. Emergency-121.5, Chat-123.45, Air-Air-122.75, etc.) and save them under the Com Radio menu (adding a tab or 2nd page?), so we have the ability to push a button to download into the radio without having to use the radio tuning knobs?
It's not a criminal offense, so there can't be prosecutions. It's a civil penalty that results in fines, and it could affect your certificate. They do enforce it, but admittedly very rarely. Supposedly the Coors flight demonstration team was chastised for it at some point. It's not unlike people who ignore traffic laws because they're almost never enforced. It happens so rarely that many people aren't even aware some of the laws even exist. It makes driving less safe, but many people just don't care anymore, or are just blissfully oblivious. It's the same case with fingers (123.45). You'll probably never be punished for it, but you could potentially jeopardize safety. Although that too is unlikely in most instances (silly in your words), it could become more likely if more and more pilots decide to flaunt the rules. That's not just due to misuse of 123.45, it's because the attitude of ignoring rules is insidiously contagious. It will start bleeding over into other areas for many people, and those people can hurt you even if you actually follow the rules. That same attitude has caused some pilots to use 121.5 for chat, and it would be difficult to argue that can't affect safety. It's a matter of whether or not you feel the rules should be respected, rather than the chances of being caught. Not disputing your assertion of illegality - but I would ask the question if ANY pilot EVER has been prosecuted for that silliness.
Since this thread is a 'wish list': I wish all the new bugs introduced in v16.2.4, and all the previous bugs that were carried over into v16.2.4, would be fixed ASAP!![]()
Garmin has a long history of not collaborating with anyone. In fact just the opposite. They usually try to lock you out of using any equipment that is not theirs. When I bought a GTN650 a few years Garmin would not give me an install manual (after spending $10,000 on it). No tech support was available and I would have to have a Garmin dealer update the software instead of doing it myself. I bootlegged an install manual and the software updates. At Sun & Fun I complained about the lack of any help to the home builders and they told me that they will now provide install manuals and software updates to home builders for the certified equipment that is installed in a homebuilt. It’s not easy to find the software updates, but it is available. It’s way past time but there is a glimmer of hope that they may be changing. I have an RV10 with two HDX1100’s set up as PFD’s and one HDX800 set up for engine monitoring. My audio panel is a PS Engineering PMA8000 series. I have a 3 axis autopilot and just about all the other equipment that Dynon sells. I installed it all myself. I am no electrical genius but I can read and follow directions. My only request would be integration with Garmin Pilot via USB Bluetooth module similar to the WiFi adapter currently being offered. I am sure I will receive some slack for this post, but I have never been a fan of ForeFlight. They have just added way too many features over the years without a logical GUI interface... the home menu with simple, logical Iconology in Garmin Pilot is just easier for me. I also prefer the VFR versus IFR cost structure that Garmin Pilot offers, while still retaining a full functioning Synthetic Vision backup AHRS for $100 yearly. Anyhow, I know a lot of you are anti-Garmin, and I understand this would require a GP and Dynon collaboration... but this or at least a GDL-50 ADS-B interface to display traffic and weather output on the Skyview Classic would make my day.
Yes, I know that. I guess I should have qualified the "wish list" item as being for the Classic touch version. You mean like this? It's already there on the HDX, just not the classic.
Garmin’s business philosophy is to make it as difficult as possible to use any other equipment with theirs. They also plan on making as much on the various updates for your Garmin products as they do selling them. The updates are a real cash cow for them.My only request would be integration with Garmin Pilot via USB Bluetooth module similar to the WiFi adapter currently being offered. All aviation weather reports are in Centigrade. Why do you want Fahrenheit output. I am 72 and grew up with everything in Fahrenheit. I was glad when surface weather was finally reported in Centigrade.Adding to the pile. Provide an option to display temperature in both C and F, at the same time. I have dual HDX and have a yellow sticky on my panel with the corresponding temps. How crazy is that? Ive seen another efis (?) that dispayed both, side by side. Seems simple.
