Vern,
Want to show an example of what you see. I want to see if we are looking at the same thing so I can get engineering to look.
email to support@dynonavionics.com is best.

So one software update and you run???

Wait till the big G bites you. You will soon discover the wait here as annoying as it has been, is nothing in the big picture. YMMV.
I talked to Dynon at Copperstate 2019. With the commitment to support WiFi streaming of the data, I started a new development and invested several thousand dollars and about 1000 hours of labor to develop some new avionics products that will support the Dynon ecosystem. I had to release my device library last night to meet other commitments, without the SkyView WiFi support. That's why I was upset. Today, we are friends again.

After installing v16 tonight I noticed that when on the VP-X page the cursor knob does not work properly. When I turn the knob, the page jumps to the bottom and then it won't move up or down no matter which way I rotate the knob. I'm able to scroll the VP-X page up and down by touching the screen but not with the knob. Before the upgrade it would scroll up and down with the knob.

With autopilot-autotrim trim turned on (HDX), does this update fix the runaway trim issue several users have had?
What do you call runaway trim?

There has never been a runaway trim issue. There has been only two issues that I am aware of. One was the trim would stop working in one direction as if you had a faulty switch. This was a input problem caused by a tiny flaw in the wave soldering. Only a few people had this and it was several years ago.

The AP/trim bug was not runaway, rather it would be an auto trim sensing issue where it would time and time again command trim down, and eventually you had an out of trim plane. This bug is fixed with V16 (it better be) and works fine. I have had the BETA software running for 18 months and never once has it given me a problem where as I could get it randomly for years prior.

Hope that explains that.

Maybe runaway is extreme, but it is reference in this post https://forum.flydynon.com/threads/ap-auto-trim-aileron.12464/

I installed the v16 update this morning on both my 10 and 7" screens. The updated happened without incident. The only thing that I noticed and initially thought was a problem is that the on screen comms numbers are "greyed" out until that value is able to be input. i.e. When you first open the comm input screen the only number you can select is "1", then 1,2, and three appear for the second number...and so on. Did not see a reference to this in the update documents.

Will there be an update to the autopilot in-flight tuning guide to explain how to use these new parameters?

Unfortunately, My deadline has passed and I have to look elsewhere for my next panels to meet my schedule. Right now I am designing one for another aircraft at the same time for my S-21. I've been more than patient. It's been a long relationship, but it looks like it's over... Brand 'G' will give me everything I want and seem keen.
Have you priced brand G data update prices? Flat rate repair prices? The nav data charges compared to Dynon are outrageous, when the data comes from the same source at exactly the same price. The changes for 16.0 are nice to have, but didn't have to have any of them. Some how I don't think you will get the same outstanding and prompt service that Don Jones and his staff provide. Not to mention that most of Dynon's original products like the D10 are still available. Some of the early G430s have been without support for several years. Ditto most of the products they bought from Apollo/UPSAT. Heck, my GTN650 already has had a replacement on the market for a couple years, and it is only 6 yrs old.

Today I updated the 10" SkyView Touch system in my RV-8 (Lycoming YIO-360-M1B) from v15.4.7 to v16.0.1. The update went smoothly with no problems. Below are some rough first impressions based on one 2 hour flight:

Prior to flying, I manually changed the "Engine Type" from the "LYCOMING - DEPRECATED" choice to the new "LYCOMING" choice, to take advantage of the new percent power calculations. I noticed that the % Power numbers were higher than what I was used to seeing at a given power setting. To explore this, several times in-flight I went back and forth between the "LYCOMING - DEPRECATED" to the new "LYCOMING" choice at the same power settings. I found when ROP the newer % Power calculations gave roughly 3% to 4% higher readings. I did the same comparison LOP a couple of times and the % Power numbers were the same between the two "Engine Type" choices.

My first impression is that the new ROP % Power calculations indicate too high, and the previous % Power calculations are closer to the truth, but I need to do a little homework first to be sure. It would be helpful for Dynon Support to describe the improvements that were made to the % Power calculation.

Also, the Pitch autopilot seemed to hunt a little more in "Altitude Hold Mode" than before the update, so in-flight I changed the "HIGH SPEED SENSITIVITY" from the default "10" to "15" and "20". Setting it to "15" seemed to help, but I didn't fly enough to wring it out, and I don't know anything about the new settings or any new tuning guidelines. As requested by a previous poster, it would help if Dynon Support put out some info on the new settings (I have not looked at any of the new documentation yet, so I apologize if that info is included there). Here are my settings if any of the Beta testers want to comment:

Otherwise, so far so good. Thanks for the update Dynon!

Maybe I'm being greedy, but an updated In-Flight autopilot tuning guide would be well recieved. The current guide does not have any documentation for adjusting the yaw damper. There is info on then YD when used in an RV-10 but for those of us flying something else, we're a bit in the dark.

Dear community,
today I have installed the V16 Update on my 10" Skyview Touch with Dynon Autopilot, Radio, Intercom and a installed camera module. The update process went normal. When I press "TOOLS" - "VIDEO" to activate my taxi cam, it works as before, BUT, pressing the "VIDEO" button again does not switch the camera view off anymore. Only a power cycle seems to solve the problem for now. I can replicate the error, so it looks like a "permanent issue". Anybody experiences the same issue?

Best,
Laotse

I agree, seems to me that with all the additional menu items it would make sense to have an updated tuning manual.

I remember seeing an announcement 1 1/2 year ago that mentioned v16 including the ability to assign an altitude to flight plan waypoints. I didn't see this in the updated features list. Did I miss it, or is my memory failing me?

Yes - that’s what I read too so was a tad disappointed not to see it in the update. Perhaps a later v16 point release will include it?

I love the improvement to GS intercept!!!! It used to overshoot, and then porpoise its way to a fairly stable ride down the GS. Now it is a textbook intercept , and deviation on the glide slope is never more than 1 bar width with a smooth ride the whole way. I made no setting changes to get this result from what I already had.

yay!

So I flew both Wednesday and Thursday after the software update. Both days were a bit bumpy and I definitely noticed that the Autopilot was better functioning. Previously it would not handle turbulence very well and would sometimes kick offline, but the past two days were much better...
