Only happens when you transmit.. right? you should be fine unless you are in a B airspace type environment (LAX, BOS) where radio comm is busy. Dont look at the EGT when you press the transmit button and everything will be fine.

GPS needs a clear view of the sky- it will work through Fiberglass but not aluminum. So you're options are either under the windscreen or under a fiberglass piece.
