Questions 1 and 2. No, it would be nice, but Skyview doesn't configure the serial ports automatically. You have to manually configure each serial port. See Page 4-12 of the Installation manual. It has details of how to configure the serial ports.

I just connected my new Kavilco fuel pressure sensor directly to an EMS pin and it seems to works fine. You may want to consider using Skyview power and GND for the sensor as it is a regulated source of power. Voltage fluctuations may cause some fluctuations in the readings.

I think the GPX format is a generally accepted universal transfer protocol with a number of programs reading writing the format. Perhaps some pressure should be put on Voyager to import/export in that format. :)

Skyview will keep one flight plan in memory. If you load one from the USB drive it overwrites the one in memory. They can be reversed. See page 7-32 of the Pilot User Guide for Flight Plan functions. I suspect that if you reverse a flight plan it can be saved that way on the USB drive.

It may be awkward, but it also seems backwards. Page 7-53 of the install manual has an example of a contact sensor setup. They have two states, ON and OFF (OPEN and CLOSED in the example) depending on the voltage. You can give them any name and color you want for the state. See these examples.

They are text files. Try dragging and dropping the file on a textedit application or open a textedit application and use cmd+O to open the file. To change the file type to always open with textedit right click the file. Get info > change Open with > and Change all.
