    Boot error problem

I had a strange thing happen a couple of times the other day. The altitude wouldn't settle down when I booted. It went from about -100,000 to +100,000 and back and forth a few times before it finally settled down. I did have a heater in the plane below the ADAHRS (still cold in Canada). It...

    skyview dirty rf ...testing... resolved.

Re: skyview dirty rf ...testing... Thanks for the tip Bruce. The harness came with leads for four cylinders so I have no extras. I did roll up some excess length and leave it behind the panel. I may spend the money on a pin remover for the D Sub connectors and remove all the wires that I am...

    skyview dirty rf ...testing... resolved.

Re: skyview dirty rf ...testing... That is good news. However, it looks like not all systems are affected. It could very well be the method of wiring we used for those that have high levels of noise. Are there any resources that someone could point out that may help us with the wiring if that...

    skyview dirty rf ...testing... resolved.

Re: skyview dirty rf ...testing... I have the same problem. Turning on the Skyview produces static in both my iCOM 210 mounted in my panel and my iCOM A6 handheld. I get the same affect when I get the iCOM A6 near my computer. I tried adjusting the squelch but it has no effect. Turning off...

    skyview update is out... v1.5

I just reinstalled my panel back in to my plane. I had it in then out again to get at some other stuff. While I had it out I updated the Skyview software to 1.5 on my bench. After I reinstalled it in the plane, it found all the modules and promptly did a software update to the modules. Now that...

    Electical System Intergation

I like the idea of programable circuits with smarts but the VP system was overkill for my project when I first looked at it and I didn't have the panel space to add another display. I also looked at a number of polyfuse systems but they on the other hand were too limited in both number of...

    skyview update is out... v1.5

I just removed my panel and have it next to my computer so I updated it. Two comments. The update was easy as it recognized that there was an update as soon as inserted the USB stick. The other updates I loaded manually. Unfortunately I can't see the map info because I'm 200 miles north of the...

    Serial TX to Garmin 330GX

I don't have the 330, but the manual for the GTX327 shows a RS232 input page in the setup. It displays what you are getting on the two RS232 channels.

    USB

The USB is a great idea. I haven't tried yet, but I suspect it will recognize a portable USB HD the same as a USB thumb drive. Is there any thought as to recognizing other USB devices? I know the joysticks work quite well for input but a keyboard (or keypad) would be a good addition...

    Skyview output to GTX327

Thanks for the heads up. Until that happens, I would think that the SQUAT function is a great option to relieve the pilot of some tedious tasks and let him fly the plane. It doesn't relieve him of checking that the transponder is in the proper mode or stop him from manually changing modes. Do...

    Skyview output to GTX327

It is a problem where TWR doesn't want their screen cluttered with aircraft on the ground. In that case, your transponder should be on STBY or OFF. I think that is why Garmin offers the SQUAT option - for us guys that don't always remember to switch the transponder mode. It's also a safety...

    Fuel flow pin out

The fuel flow sensor ("Red Cube" FT-60) I received with my sensor package has red, white and black wires as opposed to the red, yellow and black on the harness. I assume the yellow connects to the white and the red and black match with the red and black from the harness.

    EMS Voltmeter Pin Connections

Thanks - That answers the question - and more. I guess if I was thinking ahead, I would have just added a 1A breaker to the bus and connected the voltmeter wire there. If the inline fuses go I'll have to be crawling under the panel looking for them.

where to hook the voltage pins?

From what I read here, you can basically connect them any where you want to know the voltage. I decided to connect one pin to the main bus and the second to the avionics bus. My thinking was that if either bus died, I would know by the voltage although when I think about it, the avionics bus is...

EMS General Purpose Input for Contacts

Ok - now it makes sense. The connection and the logic is opposite as to the sample settings file. Also from the answer to my other question, on something like this I suspect I should protect the GP input wire with a 1A fuse.

EMS General Purpose Input for Contacts

Page 6-23 of the Skyview installation manual describes contacts which seems easy enough. The way I understand it is that you connect the pin to a switch and the other side of the switch to ground. As long as the switch is open (0-2 volts in the sensor settings) it is considered open. When the...

    EMS Voltmeter Pin Connections

That sounds logical. But how far do you go then? So far we have fuses on the Voltmeters and AMPS pins. What about the RPM input. Is the 30kohm resistor enough protection or do you also need a fuse? I suspect thermocouple pins and the general purpose pins are fine as long as they are connected...

    EMS Voltmeter Pin Connections

Do the voltmeter pins need any fuses like the AMPS shunt pins? or can I just connect pin 1 and 2 to the main or avionics bus directly?

    Glasair II Rochester Fuel Sensors

I have a Glasair II with what I believe to be standard Rochester fuel sensors. I bought the plane used so I don't have documentation. Has anybody connected these sensors to Skyview and what would be the proper method. The sensors have two wires. One was connected to the GND lead on the gauge...
