I retrofitted my -6A with the AP. As you know a properly rigged -6 has very low control system friction. Adding the servos adds friction. On the ground is seemed like a lot. I like very light smooth controls so was concerned. In flight, the drag was not noticeable at all. Don't sweat it.

I don't expect a short, but rather a bad connection, one that has a bad crimp, is loose or has corrosion on it.

I too have this problem. It seems to switch over at 12Kts ground speed for me which is on the edge of a faster taxi speed in some cases. It would be good if it switched at something like 20 kts.

The ADSB 470 connects to the Skyview system via serial data. It picks up the GPS data by talking to Skyview. Do not wire the GPS to the ADS 470. This is as shown in the instalaltion manual.
