    ADS-b?

To meet the 2020 mandate for ADS-B "out" you will need a certified WAAS GPS receiver. To simply have ADS-B out so you can get full service ADS-B "'in" you just need any GPS. I am currently using the Skyview GPS to support "out" functions and as a result get full "in" services. I intend to...

    Low airspeed awareness

I do STC projects for EFIS upgrades for the past 20 years and the FAA looks for this. Seems that some have missed it in the past however. How about this for an algorithm:  In the absence of a gear squat switch, do not display at power on until airspeed > Vso.  It would mean that everyone...

    Low airspeed awareness

It is in section 17.7(a)and(b). Which also explains why it is required in certified systems. The real trick is that it cannot show during takeoff.

    Low airspeed awareness

Can Skyview do low airspeed awareness as described in AC23.1311c ?

    Traffic aural warnings

I recently flew with a system that provided enhanced aural warnings for traffic. Instead of the simple "traffic" alert it also provided azimuth, distance and relative altitude info. This was really useful and allowed for a very quick heads out of the cockpit to find the traffic. No looking at...

    GPS Altitude

Could this replace or at least simulate radalt?

    Power switch for accessories?

Consider that accessories, including headlights, blower motors and other loads switch off making full battery capacity available to the starter. It doesn't seem like the headlights or blower motors would be affected by voltage spikes from the start relays (which all have diodes across the...

    True airspeed color ranges

In certified airplanes where the service ceiling is high enough where the Vne factors that are influenced by TAS are limiting, they use a "barber pole" (Vmo) that moves based on altitude. As altitude goes up, Vmo comes down so that the it depicts the redline against IAS. Perhaps what is really...

    Proprietary IFR GPS?

I have had a couple of interesting experiences with 1 VFR GPS and 1 of the popular handhelds, both involved the same thing. I did direct to navigation to an airport (different airports between the handheld and VFR unit) with the flight ending with no airport in sight. With the VFR unit, the...

    Skyview airspeed incorrect. Thoughts?

Are they both connected to the same static source? Have you done leak checks for both the pitot and static systems? Pitot can't impact altitude.

    Autopilot and approach

The waypoints are not 3 dimensional so there is no altitude data for the flight plan. There is also no way to enter altitudes in the flight plan so no vertical guidance from the flight plan. That is unless Dynon knows something they are keeping secret from me. ;D

Airspace Radio frequencies on pop up Map panning

This has been one of my pet peeves about most IPad apps. The data from the sectional tab, like the controlling agency hours of operation and other important data is missing. it would be a real winner if you could figure out a way to include this data. If it isn't in the FAA databases it is a...

CHT and EGT jump when Transmitting

It is a known problem with the EMS unit. check with Dynon to verify and get an RMA if needed.

    BRG 1 and BRG 2

You ask why not make the instruments work as they would in a classical configuration- that is exactly what they do.  In a classical configuration there is a separate nav source for each pointer.  That is what enables one to assign a different task for each pointer. What I think you mean is that...

    BRG 1 and BRG 2

The GPS inputs to Skyview are just position sources- they tell Skyview where you are now. The Skyview map software (I think) allows you to select waypoints, create a flight plan etc. You can create a flight plan or do a direct to and select either GPS souce to provide your current position...

    Skyview+GPS 250+Garmin V?

Is there a reason to add a GarminV? Only if you want a 2nd GPS input. The GPS 250 provides default GPS input to the HSI and map, while the Garmin V would provide a back up input. I use a Garmin 496 input to SV as a back up. The othr nav data comes from a Nav reciever, typically a SL30/...

    Getting sound alerts from Skyview

I'm not sure if it is a typo in your post- but is should be SV 37 pin connector pins 13 and 31 that are shorted and tied to your audio panel pin 20. Other than that do you have the volume for SV and the audio panel turned up? Re: Page 4-18 of the SV manual rev P. Dan

Re: AUTOPILOT BEHAVIOUR WITH VER 7.0

I was coming from 6 to 7. No backup sorry. However, my pitch settings were at the default in V6

Re: AUTOPILOT BEHAVIOUR WITH VER 7.0

Just for the record, I have had the same experience. Pitch was set up per the guide and held +-15 ft. After upgrade to V7.0 /7.01 now won't hold altitude within 100 ft. In turbulence, pitch oscillations can be quite noticeable. Will be trying tuning again next weekend.

Best place to install the Skyview Amp Shunt

Some thoughts on the choices.   In my opinion, the most valuable piece of information you need from the amps indication is how much power the alternator is producing (method B). The reason is that the alternator has output limits (rating) and managing load to be less than the rated output is...
