    SkyView Classic Screen Failure

Today while flying my pilot side screen failed. I did a hard re-boot and it came back up. About 5minutes later it failed again. Another re-boot brought it back and about 5 min later it failed again. I took a photo of the failure to see if anyone can tell me what could be the problem. The...

    Battery not Recognized

It might be a bad wire. IMHO you should contact DYNON support and get them to help. The few times I have contacted them they have been superb.

    ADSB-472

That is what I meant, just not what I typed. Cranial flatulation.

    ADSB-472

Or you have not done a SkyView network configuration update so the system knows you added the ADSB-472 to the network.

    Battery not Recognized

Check the DB37 plug on the back of the unit. I had the same issue and found the plug was not making good connection. You can read what happened in this thread: https://forum.flydynon.com/threads/backup-battery-discharged.14193/

Own Ship Called Out As Traffic...and..."No ADS-B-GPS Lost"

So you don't have to call GHOSTBUSTERS approach! :p

    Transponder: TNC. ADSB/Radio: BNC. Why?

The Bayonet Navy Connector (BNC) was primarily designed for up to VHF frequencies while Threaded Navy Connector (TNC) was primarily designed for UHF frequencies and above, hence the difference in performance. Once you get to SHF then you need to use waveguides in place of connectors and coax...

    Backup battery isn't working

Is the 13.2v with the engine running measured at the battery terminal? That is a bit low but it "should" be enough for SkyView to charge the BU battery. Although, it might take longer to bring the BU battery to full charge so you may need to fly a bit longer. Just another sacrifice we must...

    Backup battery isn't working

11.18v at the SkyView is not enough to start charging the BU battery which may explain your issue. With the engine and alternator on, the voltage as measured at the airplane battery terminals should be between 13.8v and 14.2v. Check your voltage regulator setting, adjust as required and fly for...

Advanced Aircraft Electronics L-2 transponder antenna?

I used that exact antenna in my fiberglass KIS4. One for the XPNDR-261 and one for the ADSB-470 IN module. They are superb and am glad I used them.

    Altimeter Correction

What do you mean by "5000 true"? The transponder sends out pressure altitude (not compensated for barometric pressure) to ATC. The ATC RADAR display adjusts for the current barometric pressure in the area you are flying. Make sure you are NOT using GPS altitude as "true" altitude. It will rarely...

    Backup Battery Discharged?

After consulting with DYNON, I swapped the displays. When I did the swap I noticed that the DB-37 plug on the #1 display didn't appear to be properly seated. I had removed the display for repairs and apparently when I re-installed it, the main plug on the back was not making good contact. After...

    Airspeed and Altitude Covers Display

Is there any way to move the airspeed and altitude "tapes" towards the edges on the display? They block a good portion of the screen area and with a crosswind makes it hard to see some of the information. You can see this on the photo I took while flying where the airspeed tape completely blocks...

    Backup Battery Discharged?

I swapped batteries so if there is a problem it would have to be in the SkyView plug which has worked perfect since 2012. I contacted DYNON support and am sending them some files they asked for. I will post what we find.

    Backup Battery Discharged?

Just to completely rule out that possibility I purchased a new battery directly from DYNON and it continues to happen. The funny part is even though it says the battery needs charging, it passes the 45min battery test. I have a call in to DYNON support to see what they thing. 🤔

    Backup Battery Discharged?

As I posted, it only happens with one display the other display works fine. It doesn't matter which battery is connected to which display. After 10yrs and over 800hrs working perfectly it just started happening intermittently to only one of my 2 displays. That is why I was wondering if anybody...

    Backup Battery Discharged?

My #1 SkyView Classic display intermittently shows the battery backup is discharged and needs charging. My #2 SkyView display works just fine. I swapped the batteries and the #1 display still intermittently gives me backup battery needs charging while the #2 display works normal. The battery is...

ADS- B Traffic on Approach plate display?

If you have the ADSB IN module and a WIFI dongle just connect a tablet to the SkyView WIFI, run FltPlanGo, overlay the approach plate on the sectional and you get this exact capability. You get a pseudo additional screen and the charts/plates are subscription free. That is how I do it in my...

    SV-XPNDR-261 Mode C (ALT), and ADS-B

No it will NOT help and actually degrades this particular antenna's performance. The AAE L2 is is not the typical transponder antenna you see on airplanes. For the most part, with a Long EZ you do not have to worry about this antenna and the location. The antenna "could" be bad but highly...

    SV-XPNDR-261 Mode C (ALT), and ADS-B

Do NOT add a ground plane with the Advanced Aircraft Electronics High Gain Transponder antenna. It is designed with the ground plane built in and the instructions specifically state not to add a ground plane. From the AAE Installation Instructions: "ANTENNA USES & AIRCRAFT COMPATIBILITY NO...
