ForeFlight connectivity comes to SkyView via Wi-Fi

That brings up a question about ForeFlight. I currently use cellular data for weather on ForeFlight in the air. Am I busting any laws about cellular use in airplanes?

    Aircraft Icon added in V12.0

The first thing I noticed about the screenshots above is that the compass circle is nearly complete. For us single screen guys with 40/40/20 screen layout it only shows about 60 degrees of the compass circle on the map. I think I'll switch to 80/20 and use ForeFlight as my PFD. As far as the...

ForeFlight connectivity comes to SkyView via Wi-Fi

It's an easy decision for Canadian users. The only version of ForeFlight available to us is the Pro version. I remember a couple of years ago there was a lots of requests for video streaming the Skyview display to the rear seat. This connection pretty much does that and more. For me it puts an...

    Navworx

Not really. It states: It seems weather and traffic are easy to get as there are a number of devices out there that do that. What's interesting is their claim: A reasonably priced GPS is the part that has been missing to this point. Of course if it works like their spell checker it may need...

    New Sportsman Panel

Thanks Dave. I found a high resolution picture and traced them in AutoCAD. I have all the panel outlines in AutoCAD DXF and used them in Front Page Express to order the panels. They fit pretty good. If I did them again I would do some very minor adjustments. I have the DXF files is anybody...

    Tosten Stick Grips

Thanks. We'll look at it that way and see if we can make it work.

    Tosten Stick Grips

We're trying to put the Tosten stick grips in a GlasAir and they are a bit tall to go under the dash even when we cut the stick shorter. Any hints on how to modify the stick to get the grips to work on the GlasAir?

    SV-ap-panel trim controller

Thanks for the info Jake. I'll probably leave it for now but certainly consider eliminating the relays if I have to do any changes there.

    SV-ap-panel trim controller

I use automotive relays for quite a few of the functions in my Glasair. The VP-X is limited to 10A for the flaps whereas the Glasair flap motor calls for a 15A breaker. The FPS which I initially installed is also limited to 10A. The relays I installed to solve the problem have been running my...

Wire run planning in a RV7

If you have several items in the back that require power, run one power wire back and place a fuse box back there for the individual items. Check the VP-X manual 4.12a What if I run out of power pins?. Just note that if you have the power wire switched, all the devices will power up or down with...

    S/V for a Onex

Easy way to reduce size of pictures in Windows is to right click on the picture and use Send To on the popup menu to email it (to yourself). You'll get a chance to resize the picture. When they are too large on the forum, I just drag the picture to the desktop and double click to open it in the...

    Redundancy

For VFR it probably don't matter how it's plumbed. IFR redundancy probably needs separate pitot and static sources. A blocked shared pitot or static will take both ADAHRS out. In the case of bob m, a blocked static will take all of his instruments out.

SkyView Battery Charging before first flight.

Just a thank you note to Vern. The Polar Vortex lifted here so I pulled my plane out for a quick trip for coffee and fuel. During run up I switch to the emergency bus to check the EFII system then mistakenly turned off the master rather than the emergency bus. The engine of course kept running...

    Radio interfence

Congratulations on the upgrades Jake. With a break from the Polar Vortex here I've been able to fly the last couple of days and appreciate Dynon glass more every time.

    External GPS data

Just some thoughts for your decision process. I have the GPS495. Had it before the SV and incorporated it into the panel when I upgraded to SV. It worked well as a navigation device even after I added AP to SV when it became available. I used it for flight planning as you suggest. A couple of...

    External GPS data

I only found one screenshot with SV following the GPS495 (GPS 1) route and it doesn't show on the SV MAP page. It's dated June.2013. Don't know if the newer versions of SV changed that. Looks like the Garmin GTN series do cross fill to the SV Map. Nice system David 8-)

SkyView D1000 percentage power and leaning

If you go back to my post #7 in this thread and follow the external links you will find that I use a Bosch o2 sensor. I don't have the new LSU 4.9. You can also learn that there is a lead scavenging component to 100LL. Documented here: Lie #6 So if you keep your cylinder temperatures toasty...

    External GPS data

None ?NO NO YES NO. SV AP will follow either device flight plan. The SV flight plan will do the turns better than an external device flight plan. SV will follow a flight plan from an external GPS but it won't show it on the SV Map page. It will show it on the HSI. Here is an example. SV AP is...

SkyView D1000 percentage power and leaning

You supplied a pile of graphs to prove your point. I asked a question about the graphs that you couldn't/didn't answer so I have to assume that if you don't know what the graphs mean then they don't add a lot of useful information to the discussion. I'm done here. I've already stepped over the...
