Skyview indications affected by comm 1 or comm 2

The filter worked for me. :) :) dynonavionics.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1408290603

    Tosten Stick Grips

The PTT button on one of my Glasair sticks died so I bought a pair Tosten stick grips for the same price as one Glasair grip. I'm impressed with them and second Richard's endorsement. They are a nice inexpensive grip with lots of options. :) :)

    User-defined checklists on Skyview?

I mounted my mini iPad on the right side of the panel with a RAM mount. My panel is VFR. Single EFIS, radio, xponder, etc and I use VP-X (no breakers) so the right side of the panel is blank. This is a picture of the mount. It's an interesting picture. On the iPad you can see we are already into...

    User-defined checklists on Skyview?

Checkmate. Interactive checklist that works on Apple or Android devices. I took the time to make up an electronic checklist, but still use a single laminated card that I periodically tweak. Staples is happy to see me every Spring.  :-/ I might change that habit if a checklist came up when I...

    Skyview Shut Down Problem

The one/two button press maybe worked but I don't believe it is a documented combination. These are the button functions that I know of: Button 1: Hold to shut down or hold to turn on Skyview - page 1-2 of the Installation Guide Button 1,2,5: Press all together to reboot Skyview - page 3-7 of...

    Replacement EGT Probe Recommendation

I think if you're looking for better quality then the cost will increase. I looked for something that was advertised to handle higher temperatures. The Dynon probes started to burn out after I installed electronic fuel injection and was running near peak EGT (1600F+). I think these are the ones...

    Engine Instrument DIsplay Style

The AFR reading comes from an oxygen sensor that I installed. It's an easy way to determine mixture for maximum power or best economy. Maybe unusual for conventional aircraft engines but pretty standard in automobiles. Searching this forum for AFR will give you an idea of how to install one and...

    re-volt meter

If you connect pin1 to anywhere that gets battery power when you turn on the master it will read battery volts. When the alternator is supplying power (and charging the battery), pin1 will read volts as supplied by the alternator. I don't think there is a place you can put it so that it reads...

    Power switch for accessories?

I just noticed that the Advanced Flight Quick Panel System have Avionics and AP switches. Whether they are on or off during start, I like the option the switch offers. http://preflight.dynonavionics.com/2014/09/advanced-flight-quick-panel-system.html

Transferring a route from external device to SV?

I bought a low profile USB stick and leave it plugged into the SV all the time. Think of it as extra memory. Just like the SD card in your cell phone. There would probably be no difference loading the flight plan from SV memory or the USB stick. Plus you're always prepared to get that screen...

    EMS Contact Function

Then you will have to add the resistor as noted in the thread mentioned above. Skyview normally reads +5V on the EMS pin when it is NOT grounded. It read 0V when it is grounded. That is the normal way to use the contact. In your case (and mine from the thread) we want to detect when the device...

    EMS Contact Function

Check to see if the positive terminal on the pump shows a drain to ground with the power off. If it does then connect the EMS contact pin wire to the positive terminate on the pump or any point downstream of the ON/OFF switch for the pump. When the power to the pump is OFF EMS will see 0-2V...

Polarized sunglasses with SkyView and com radio

When my optometrist found out I was a pilot she highly recommended that I NOT use polarized sunglasses for the very reason noted in the first post. A very distinguished pilot with a float rating said the only way to check for rocks under the water was polarized sunglasses and kept a pair in his...

    Pitot Tubing

I just added the Dynon AOA/pitot and redid the plumbing. I used push on fittings and used different color nylon tubing for the three functions; static, pitot and AOA. I also used continuous tubing from source to the ADAHRS to eliminate possible leaks or failure points. There is a good article in...

    EGT probe connections

Crimping turns out to be the problem in Vern's case. He only has 37 hours on the TACH. If something is going to fail it'll probably fail early in it's life span as did the improper crimping in Vern's case. My probes lasted a couple hundred hours and began to fail when I installed fuel injection...

New Feature Request : Bearing Line

I just press the DTO button twice to move the line to the current position. The first press brings up the selection page which already has the current DTO waypoint. Pressing DTO again selects it and changes the line on the map. If you don't reselect the waypoint, re-engaging the AP will take you...

    Engine Instrument DIsplay Style

You can modify the engine gauges quite a bit. While tic marks are still not available, the width and shape of the bar and arc gauges can be modified by hand tweaking. White is also an available color. I can't remember but I think if you use a width of zero for the arcs they are just a single...

    VPX-Sport

Skyview sorts them alphabetically. Just use some creative naming for the devices ;) The first few can't be renamed but all the others can. I grouped mine by function. You could also use a two digit number. 01 Radio 02 xPonder 03 Cup Warmer etc.

    Radio Transmissions affecting Altitude

Quick update. I had a chance to check it out in the air and the altimeter no longer is affected by radio transmissions. The fuel gauge is still affected but it's not a real problem. I'm a happy flyer. :) :)
