Do all measuring instrument need to be calibrated?

I generally agree about the 'high' quality but let me give you 3 reasons why I'm cautious - 1. I can't afford to totally believe that what the instruments are saying is true - for example, too late to do anything if you have serious engine problems due under oil emp or pressure readings. 2. ...

    garmin696 and dynon autopilot

Robert Yes to all, DSAB is via the wiring between the units. The install manual (always use the latest version) covers it all :) Jake J

SV-XPNDR-261 not seeing IFD540 serial data

Thanks Ian, I'm sure you guys are very busy & doing the best you can - some clients can't wait to get away from Garmin's monopoly position & use other manufacturers products ;) Jake J

SV-XPNDR-261 not seeing IFD540 serial data

" When we have the firmware later this year, you can update your SkyView, transponder, and then set the transponder to use the Avidyne format." DS - Can you guarantee you will have the firmware later this year as we have some aircraft ops that require them to be compliant by Feb 2016? :) Jake J

SV-XPNDR-261 not seeing IFD540 serial data

John I'm not familiar with the IFD units, yet, but did you connect to 2 serial outputs ie 1 for Aviation Out & a second one for the ADSB out to pin 3 of the -261 & configured for that ? If yes, then maybe it's a software issue between the -261 & IFD units ;) Jake J

Using the new Autopilot trim with VPX

There is no other way to get Auto Trim - you must have the AP Panel :) Jake J

    RV10 pitch servo

I'd have to agree David. The Torque Enhancer version is Dynon's best solution to the 'heavy' elevator situation, much better than just using a heavy duty servo motor :) Jake J

    RPM pulses

For a better, more reliable, option for the IO-540 as they can suffer from some rpm instability more so than the 4 cyl would be to use these IMO http://store.makerplane.org/magneto-p-lead-tachometer-signal-stabilizer-p-tach/ ;) Jake J

Will the SV-GPS-250 demostrate ADSB performance?

Agree completely however there is a solution for VFR which has been on the go for a while & will apply here in OZ as well     http://www.icao.int/APAC/Meetings/2015%20ADSBSITF14/SP08b_FAA%20TABS%20briefing.pdf   or google TSO-C199  ;) Jake J

Will the SV-GPS-250 demostrate ADSB performance?

As I understand it ATC here will not & are not able to give separation (via ADSB) unless the ADSB OUT is done with a Tso 145/146 'box', any other Gps is useless in that case.  ALL IFR aircraft here will have to be compliant in Feb 2017 with the Tso 145/146 system. The AOPA (Australia) homepage...

Showing VPX info on EMS page

Just enable the VP-X AMPS widget in the EMS setup page, if you want you can also use the Dynon shunt & enable it too  ;) One can show system draw & the other Alternator output if you want or other combinations. Jake J

    Annunciation - BATTERY VOLTS LOW

Just a thought - did you have the Skyview on while charging the ships battery ?  After the battery test you should charge the backup battery by leaving the Skyview on to enable the backup charging via the SV - just charging the aircraft battery without the SV on will not do it  :) I think it...

    Autopilot & other separate controllers

That's a coincidence, I'd asked a similar question directly to Dynon 2 days ago but looking at the rectangular 'radio stack' solution. With the amount of 'Glass' now being used, & therefore taking up a lot of panel space, sometimes there is little room left for a 3 1/8" unit - just my opinion...
