SkyView 10.2 Beta - Better AP Trim sensing

Tried 10.2 Beta. I spent an hour or more in afternoon air so it was a bit bumpy. A couple of things I noted. There are less alerts for trim. When there was one, it took little movement of the trim wheel and the trim indication disappeared. This is definitely different from before. When I did...

    Calibrating the Mag compuss

I believe the direction you are seeing on the map is GPS adjusted for magnetic declination. The direction you are seeing on the PDF DG is magnetic compass. You can tell the difference in that if the outline around the number is white, it's a magnetic direction. If it's magenta it's GPS...

    SkyView 10 issues

It definitely seems that the first screenshot does take more time than the subsequent ones. I didn't time the screen shots. Will next time I'm at the plane. I copied a large file from my computer to the drives to test the speed. The Dynon drive was about 10 Mb/sec. and the SanDisk Cruzer Fit...

    In Flight Tests

I just recently installed new cylinders and was doing some testing to make sure things are working as they should. The problem is that it's difficult to extract some of the test data if it's buried in a one hour flight. I was doing inflight mag checks but because the changes were so subtle I...

    Electronic Mag failure sensing

It may be that the E-Mag may continue to output a tach signal even though it has failed. According to Mike Busch the best place to do a mag check is in the air at cruise and leaned out. You'll notice right away if one has failed. I do a pre flight mag check and a post flight mag check to make...

    SkyView 10 issues

I tried a couple different USB sticks and the Dynon stick is definitely faster than most (all I've tried). Some of the screen shots were agonizingly slow with those cheap 1G free advertising USB sticks. I recently bought a SanDisk Cruzer Fit from Amazon so it didn't stick out of my panel and...

SkyView 10.2 Beta - Better AP Trim sensing

I'll probably fall asleep if I don't have to constantly fiddle with the trim but I'll give it a try anyhow. ;)

    Skyview/Garmin GTX327 Issue

Is it rapid changes in altitude or does it pick out airspeed from the NMEA stream? My GTX327 didn't switch to ALT until I upgraded to firmware 2.1. I have the second serial port RX of the GTX327 connected to my GPS495 TX which outputs NMEA and VHF data. From the GTX327 Manual: Also under...

Request for larger fonts, EMS layout

I'm thinking that a lot of thought went into both the aesthetics and human interface factors on the Skyview. Computers and more recently smart phones didn't gravitate to graphical user interfaces to confuse the user. I can understand grouping and lining up some items (CHT/EGT), but fail to see...

Request for larger fonts, EMS layout

Those proposing the 5% screen with strictly numbers should read the text to the right of Figure 7 in the document Vern posted. :)

    Canadian Airports in Database

Yeah it's a bit surprising that a major international airport like Calgary isn't shown. I flew from Saskatoon (CYXE) to Atlanta last year so loaded the latest FAA data. I normally use Pocket FMS but thought I should use the official database. I was a bit surprised that neither Saskatoon (CYXE)...

    Black Box Log Data

I guess it's worth while sharing for the lessons learned. I did some updates recently so I was tweaking things and changed some settings in VP-X a few days earlier. Tower asked if I could depart no delay as they had a commercial on final. I was happy to oblige as I was breaking in new jugs and...

    Panel Layout Opinions Wanted

I took my Avionics switch out but put it back. It was annoying to have to shut down all the avionics individually when I just wanted to turn on the master to check some thing like the fuel level, or do an update, etc. You may want an ignition switch. I'm not sure what UL Power recommends, but...

    Black Box Log Data

I had an engine out on takeoff. When I upload to SavvyAnalysis the user log shows the flight, but the black box data doesn't. The flight in the user log is 25 minutes but the black box only has three minutes. I assume the black box records only flight time. But the three minutes should show up...

Bluetooth Music and Phone without an Audio Panel

Thanks Vern - I had a look at your page and will keep watch there. Wiring directly to the pilot mic didn't work. It just killed the headset. I have BT streaming music but no phone functions for now.

Bluetooth Music and Phone without an Audio Panel

I fly VFR and have a single com radio (with intercom) but looked with envy at the Audio Panels with phone and music bluetooth inputs. I fly solo half the time so a bluetooth enabled headset works but leaves the passenger to entertain themselves when I have one along. They are also pricy at...

Yes. I had to go back to my 3.1 backup to find it. Remove both the RPM L and RPM R.

    Bending EGT Probes?

Rather than bending the probe just relocate it. I moved my EGT sensors to the inside for better wiring. That way nothing is sticking out from the exhaust. I plugged the old hole with a stainless steel pull rivet. The aluminum ones melt. :-/
