    SV-262 Transponder

We've updated the earlier post with corrections. ;)

    SV-262 Transponder

The FAA's requirement after 2020 is that you must be equipped with a Class 1 transponder if you fly in ADS-B required areas. If you choose to continue to fly with a Class 2 (SV-XPNDR-262) transponder after 2020 in those areas, that's between you and the FAA.

    SV-262 Transponder

After 2020, you need an ADS-B OUT device that meets the rules if you fly in Class C or Class B airspaces in the USA. It isn't needed in 95% of the areas of the USA which are not Class B/C airspaces. Thus, the 261 SV-XPNDR-262 is not an expensive paperweight after 2020 because anyone not in the...

    SV-262 Transponder

We cannot modify the transponders to change the models. The 262 is not a paperweight after 2020- there is over 95% of the USA where it can still be used and it also works in almost every other country in the world.

    Skyview v14.1

The service bulletin only applies if you are already running v14.0 because it's the only one affected by the issue. So it is telling you that you really should upgrade if you have v14.0. If you don't then it's your own preference. You can go direct from any SW version to v14.1.

    Skyview Linked GPS 155XL

The 155XL and 300XL hook to SkyView via serial and the AVIATION format and work great for enroute and non-precision approaches. Remember, this does not include any vertical guidance.

    D10A Winds Aloft Wrong

A good magnetic calibration is critical to winds aloft. Have you double checked that it basically has no error? Just a degree or two will be much larger than any OAT error can cause. Remember, it's doing the same calculation you would do on an E6B, so the same elements matter. Airspeed, Ground...

    Complete System Failure In Flight

We're excited to report that SkyView v14.1 is now available for download. It contains the fix for the issue that was the cause of the Technical Service Bulletin earlier this month (it also has other fixes that we found along the way). There is an updated Technical Service Bulletin that...

Not sure if it's a bug...

Unfortunately, unless you could put a monitor on the output of the 430W's ARINC-429, there's no way to tell whether the 430W wasn't transmitting that data, or SkyView wasn't receiving that data.

    ADS-B Out flight check failed

Which issue, specifically, are you referring to?

What triggers Data Logging to Start

The data logging runs any time SkyView is powered on and is stored internally. There are no triggers to start and stop it. The file is exported to USB only when you ask it to in the setup menu, and it exports all the data it has at that time.

    GPS mounting location....

We don't have a formal specification for this, but we suggest 3" or so.

    EMS 220 Pin 8

Our suggestion of Pin 8 is a legacy from our earlier EMS products. On the EMS-D10, EMS-D120, and FlightDEK-D180 37-pin connector, Pin 8 was a dedicated Fuel Pressure input. On SkyView, we (mostly) maintained backwards compatibility with those units. Normally, a device like a Kavlico, that...

    EMS 220 Pin 8

You can hook that fuel pressure sensor to any GP input.

    RPM Check Dual Lightspeeds

You cannot use them. They are the same inputs as on pins 34/35 just with less voltage reducing circuits. They go to the same logic inside the system.

    Starter Engaged "Light"

I'd probably use pin 2, which is the second "high voltage" input just because it is generally unused. But you can use any of the GP inputs. They won't be damaged, but they won't read higher than 5V. Can we ask why you want to monitor this? Just always interested in how our systems are being...

Flight director not following approach glideslope

SkyView (like all autopilots) will only capture the glideslope / glidepath if you manually intercept it from below. It won't dive for the GS, and it won't climb for it. Just like an IFR pilot would do. If you have it armed correctly, it should say ALT->VNAV in the top bar. If it's in this...

Luke Special Air Traffic Rules Area

Was this on a scanned chart or the vector map? Seattle Avionics only provides scanned data, so just checking why you might have asked them to look. We'll look, but generally this is because special airspaces don't have ways to put them in the database so the FAA calls them something normal the...

    Interesting feature????

It's not an interesting feature. It's an awesome feature ;) From the January 2015 change log: Since you're not pointed towards your target, it assumes you will make a two minute turn onto your course. If it started from where you are right now, you'd have to S-turn onto the course. It only...

    SA ChartData / ChartData Manager

That's because they took down the beta now that it's no longer in beta. In Steve's message: "Just fire up the ChartData Manager, hit Update, and the DM should update itself. New version # is 5.2.2.0522" The chart manager you already have on your PC will update itself to the latest version...
