    Installing GPS-2020

I received my GPS 2020 on Friday and installed it today, spliced the wires about 8" from the GPS puck and everything works great. Life is good! This is with my antenna in the FWF area looking up through my fiberglass cowl, inside a closed hangar. No problem getting a good satellite lock.

    News: SV-GPS-2020 Shipping & SkyView 14.0 Released

With the GPS-250 original receiver, I believe that is correct.

What CAN you do with autopilot and no certifiedGPS

I can't disagree entirely, though I would love to see some competition in the market. I was quite happy being able to link the 430W to my autopilot via the Dynon Airinc box, and it does give me a fully capable IFR receiver that is immune to a software problem in the Dynon. Developing a certified...

    Switching calibration sets?

That's a good idea, I'll consider that. I just received my airworthiness certificate yesterday afternoon, and first flight is still a few weeks away, so I'm realistically a couple months from recalibrating for both fuels. I'll respond back to this thread when I've got it figured out if nobody...

I am SO sick of the SA app

I tried it yesterday morning, it did not work for me - but it downloaded just fine this morning.

What CAN you do with autopilot and no certifiedGPS

I installed the ARINC-429 interface in mine and put a Garmin 430W in the panel connected to the ARINC box, that will allow me to couple the autopilot to the VNAV coming from the certified Garmin receiver. You'll need some form of certified GPS receiver that will output to the ARINC device to be...

What CAN you do with autopilot and no certifiedGPS

It is a little crazy, but you'll need a "certified" receiver to give vertical navigation information to the autopilot and have it follow that. This goes for both ILS and GPS VNAV. Without a certified receiver, I believe you can still see it on the screen, but the autopilot won't couple to it...

    Heated pitot installation question

I cut my aluminum tube short enough that it doesn't need to bend, and made the switch to plastic tubing there. Make sure you leave several inches of aluminum to dissipate the heat from the heated pitot though, so it won't soften the plastic. I would advise to measure it carefully and cut it...

    Trim potentiometer problem

To close the circle on this for Dynon Support - I was able to diagnose a double failure, both a potentiometer problem in the trim servo and a bad wire crimp at the EMS for the 5V power to the potentiometer. I needed to know what the pullup resistance was to make sense of the readings I was...

    Trim potentiometer problem

(sigh)... I guess the impedance of your EMS voltage inputs is a state secret or something, since I've clearly stated my question twice and you've still not answered it.

    Trim potentiometer problem

Your instruction in the manual were actually just fine, and I have it installed as it needs to be. The problem I'm seeing is that I am getting erratic readings on the Skyview trim widget from the potentiometer wiper. They wiper voltage does indeed vary as it should, but it has about 11k-ohm of...

    Trim potentiometer problem

I'm trying to diagnose a problem I'm having with my elevator trim position indicator, I'm using a Ray Allen servo and feeding +5 volts and ground to the potentiometer on the servo, and returning the wiper signal back to the EMS. I've pulled the servo apart and confirmed that it's working...

I am SO sick of the SA app

I had the same results yesterday that KRW5927 did above - everything auto-updated to my USB except the VFR sectionals. This is certainly a problem that SA is aware of, and has so far responded inadequately.

Making your own EMS sensor definitons

I'm having a bit of trouble adding a sensor (the AFR example listed above, in this case) to my file. I'm opening the SFG file in Excel, and Excel shows the indented sections of the code to be in the next column, and I'm following that for the added sensor and saving it back in the native format...

    Pitch servo always climbs!

Is there a max airspeed value that the system is trying to protect by pulling up, like it's thinking you are exceeding Vne?

AFS / AOA Probe with Skyview

With the calibration routine though, would that automatically induce the polarity change for the pressure gradient as you calibrate the system? Or is it locked in to a positive pressure gradient only?

    Switching calibration sets?

Ok, so if I understand this correctly, I would need to calibrate for 100LL, export that file and edit it to delete everything but the fuel cal data, and then recalibrate for Mogas, export and edit that as well - then when I want to switch back and forth between them I would simply import that...

    Switching calibration sets?

Dynon - I've got capacitive senders in my fuel tanks, which have a different response to 100LL versus Mogas and would require recalibration when switching fuels. Is it possible to have a calibration in "standby", maybe as a different file residing on my USB stick, that I could load when I change...

    EMS spikes etc

Mine will come out of the airplane this afternoon and be headed back to Dynon tomorrow, I sure hope this solves the problem!
