    91.227 compliance

Don, Per the 15.0 SV install manual: You must set the RS232 output on your GTN to "ADS-B+" in order to be compliant. If you do not have that option in your GTN then you need a firmware update for the GTN. See page 11-38, SV 15.0 Install.

    91.227 compliance

Looks like your GPS was not yet receiving a signal. The GPS needs to be outputting data in order to get "YES" with the compliance message. You will need to push your plane outside the hanger.

Pins 36 and 37 For K type Thermocouple

The ANSI standard color code for a type K thermocouple is RED and YELLOW, whereas YELLOW is +, and RED is -. Your guess is as good as any. You can connect it to a milivolt meter and place the probe between your fingers and verify the voltage rises as it heats up. The lead that is connected to...

    Gear Down Indication

Homebuilt101, Dynon can confirm this, but I believe if you are tapping off of LED's the "open or off" state may be too high impedance and not "pull down" the contact input enough to get a low "Gear Up" indication.  If this is the case you will need to add a pull down resistor ~5K Ohm should...

    EMS "CONTACT" inputs anomally

The un-energized lamp serves as the pull down. One side of lamp is connected to ground. If I remove the lamp or it burns open it will "pull up" and show as a "Green-Down" indication.

    Capacitane to Voltage Converter

I also have a Glasair with capacitance plates in the Header tank and got a very small voltage change with each add. It works fine and accurate. I would just complete the calibration and see how well it works.

    EMS "CONTACT" inputs anomally

i agree the diodes will accomplish the same thing. In the diode case the contact input will rise to the pull up voltage at high input, and when signal is low it will lower to the forward bias level of the diode approximately .7 Volts. I was just interested if Dynon had changed the design in...

    EMS "CONTACT" inputs anomally

I currently must have 10 K resistors in series with my 3 landing gear contacts. With the full 14V signals going to the "Contact" inputs the engine status displays all "X"'s, only when all 3 are above 14V. With the 10 K resistors inline the voltage is reduced and it works OK. This started with...

    EMS "CONTACT" inputs anomally

The way I troubleshot this was I connected a bench adjustable power supply to the alternator output line and adjusted the power supply for 14.4 Volts.  I pulled circuit breakers and when I pulled my Landing Gear Control breaker the problem cleared. The only thing I have SV connected to Landing...

    EMS "CONTACT" inputs anomally

Dynon, Can you please explain why I am experiencing this? I just received my EMS-220 module back from Dynon after repairs.  The board was replaced per Dynon write up.  So I think I basically have a new EMS.  I performed the Software update to 15.0.4, network configure and loaded the .SFG and...

DYNON HELP -BOTH ADAHRS/ EMS FAIL

The purpose of any breaker is to protect the wiring. If a short circuit happens it should prevent damage and/or fire. The battery is on the other side of this wire. It can put out a lot more than 60A.

DYNON HELP -BOTH ADAHRS/ EMS FAIL

Putting the shunt on the other side of the Circuit breaker is an option; however, this will also require significant wiring changes.  Most, if not all circuit breakers are connected to a common bus.  So, you will have to remove the breaker from the bus and install the shunt in between. The 1...

DYNON HELP -BOTH ADAHRS/ EMS FAIL

I wanted to update this problem as it may be valuable to many other Skyview installations and expose a possible venerability in this type of current monitoring circuit. I have my EMS-220 configured as “Position B” in the Skyview installation manual. This connects the ammeter shunt at the...

DYNON HELP -BOTH ADAHRS/ EMS FAIL

I disconnected the EMS from Skyview buss and all the other devices came back online. So I recovered all capability except engine monitoring.  As Dynon's "Gut feel is the EMS just because it's hooked to AMPS and volts from the Alternator" is accurate.  I will be getting with Dynon to return this...

DYNON HELP -BOTH ADAHRS/ EMS FAIL

Thanks Dynon, It is a composite aircraft, Glasair. I will check each device as you suggested once I get the alternator fixed. Just trying to get it working good enough to get back home. The Dynon failed all at once when I re-set the breaker. The EMS is on a dedicated SV buss connector so...

DYNON HELP -BOTH ADAHRS/ EMS FAIL

I will try these and see if anything recovers. It looks like all things powered via the SV display is affected. Looking at the forecast it doesnt look good for the next few days to go back west VFR... Thanks, Kurt

DYNON HELP -BOTH ADAHRS/ EMS FAIL

Dynon, On a trip from Fort Worth, TX to Meridian, MS I had a alternator failure about 40 miles from Meridian.  When the alternator failed it tripped the field breaker.  It also failed off the -201 ADAHRS, the ARINC 429, GPS-250 and the EMS.  The -200 ADAHRS displays bad altitude and airspeed...
