    redundancy

Dynon, In your exploration of the idea of a separate autopilot control panel will you be looking at something more liked the AP 76 than the current AP 74? I know neither will work with the Skyview system but the added funtionality of the AP 76 would be nice in that there could be vertical...

    Adel clamps acceptalbe?

Re: Adel clamps acceptable? I am sure others will add their voice to this but I would strongly recommend against using Adel clamps on a pushtube. The reason is that if the clamp were to slip to a different position on the tube you may bind the flight controls and effectively lose control of the...

    Re-AP

Does the wire from Stein Air have the twisted pairs suitable for DSAB or do I need to plan to make this myself?

    Oil Temp

Ratman, Perhaps you could still use Phantom's method. Could you start the engine and run it until the temps begin to come up, secure the engine and then restart it right away but leave the alternator off? If you get the dramatic temp drop it should still be a ground problem as the oil will not...

    Oil Temp

By the way, though our tech support sometimes gets busy throughout the day, leaving a quick voicemail WILL get you a callback between a few minutes and a couple hours. This quick response and dedication to the customer is just another reason my Glasair panel will have Dynon instruments. I...

    Switchable Keep Alive

I am concerned about keeping the internal batteries charged in the D180 I plan to install in the aircraft I am building. I know the current advice is to leave out the Keep Alive wire due to problems I have read here. Does the Keep Alive circuit charge the internal battery? If so, if it were...

    ADAHRS....

While it would be nice to have attitude sensors which do not tumble even in a spin, I thing Dynon has made the correct choice. Very few non military pilots have been trained in spin recovery while IMC. It is obviously an instruments only operation. I used to train students to these standards as...

    Cooling requirements

I know the Dynon units do not draw much power. I am starting the panel build and wanted to know if there are requirements for cooling of the units. My Garmin 530 has a 1 inch port on the back for cooling air and it needs it as the unit (especially the screen) generates a great deal of heat.

    D180 page configuration

Thanks for the quick reply. "Draining" is just fine and may actually be better. I look forward to getting this all up and running in the Glasair.

    D180 page configuration

I think the 1/3 EMS page is well thought out. Thank you for the reference. Looking at the 1/3 EMS page, I do not see fuel pressure. I see fuel flow (a pleasant surprise) but not pressure. Also, in that picture, there appears to be a L & R fuel quantity but no pointer although 19 is shown as a...

    D180 page configuration

I am going to put a D180 in my panel and pair it with a D100. I will place the 180 in front of the pilot. My question is about how much latitude I have in configuring the display pages. I think it is possible to have the D180 display the attitude on the left 2/3 of the screen and the engine...

    HSI Bearing Pointers

As a further question, I plan to use a Garmin 480 which also has the active and standby monitor. Since I am planning to have an HS 34 in the panel, will I be able to have the separate pointers even though I do not plan to use an SL 30?

    DSAB  and AP servo reqirements

Re: DSAB  and AP servo reqirements I will take a look at the power and ground wires for proper gauge. Is it safe to assume 20 ga will be sufficient for disconnect and DSAB? I will go with the twisted pair if it will eliminate potential problems.

    DSAB  and AP servo reqirements

I have been leading the wiring in the conduit in the wings of my Glasair. I have read I need 5 wires for the servos. I planned for a power wire, one ground, one AP disconnect and two wires for the DSAB. My plan is to make all these 20ga. The distance from the D180 to the roll servo will be about...

    AOA standard?

It is my belief that a D180 and/or D100 will display AOA if both the ports are properly connected to a Dynon AOA probe. Is that so? Can they share the pitot and AOA pressure lines the same way everything normally shares the static port connection?

    Fuel probe vs EFIS calibration

Thanks for the input. I got a first email response from Todd but have gotten no response to a follow up with a few other questions. Doing the fuel transfer on scales is a great idea which I had not thought about! I did plan to make the transfer work for me in that I will get the chance to put an...

    DSAB or multiple source feed

I realize not many details are available for NEXTGEN but I wondered if some of the parameters that have been resolved apply to sharing data across the cockpit. My current plan is to have a FD 180 on the pilot side with a 100 on the copilot side as this gives me the flexibility to put the engine...

    AOA and DSAB

Thanks for checking. Looks like I will just add that to the shopping list and will purchase it with the EFIS units, HS34 and AP 76.

    Fuel probe vs EFIS calibration

Have not tried GRT. Maybe that would be more effective. The output of the VM probe is capacitance but I do not know the range of values.

    AOA and DSAB

Thanks Dynon, that is what I feared would be the answer. Is it possible to upgrade the pitot probe with the company or do I just have to buy another one altogether?
