    Fuel tank calibration

In my experience, in any GA aircraft I have flown, the fuel gauges are very accurate in two positions. Full and empty. Everything in between is total fiction. The best fuel gauge is a fuel flow sensor backed up by a watch and regular fuel checks over waypoints on a fuel log, just to verify no leaks.

    Seattle Avionics vs Airmate

I feel your pain. I am a Mac user and have tried both SA and Airmate. The best experience I had with Seattle Avionics was to use their FlyQ EFB App and simply update the HDX wirelessly, using the slingshot feature in FlyQ. Could not be easier. I just found that for me, FlyQ was cumbersome as a...

SOLVED: EarthX fault light when connected to Dynon

When I installed my EarthX, I had the choice of wiring it into my Dynon or just having a remote LED. I chose the latter for it’s simplicity and reliability.

    Dynon Checklist Editor

Hi Stan Thanks for being so patient and willing to help for those of us with a Mac. I just tried your newly amended editor. The save function didn't work with Safari or Firefox but worked perfectly with Chrome. That may be how the browsers are configured, I'm not really sure. Your editor makes...

    Dynon Checklist Editor

Stanislaw. Thanks for the list of possible fixes. Being web based, Mac or PC shouldn't matter right? I tried your suggestions and three different browsers but still can't save. I'm using a Mac.

    AOA Alerts

I think I have mine setup to be inhibited below 40 kts but I always get the aural tone on initial takeoff roll which verifies to me that it's actually working. It only lasts a few seconds.

    Dynon Checklist Editor

Thanks for putting in the effort! I tried it out, imported my existing checklist, made a few changes and it worked perfectly but I couldn't save the file afterwards. I clicked the save checklist button but nothing happens. Did I miss a step? Cheers.

    Upgrade Skyview Touch to HDX?

Yes, I just used a USB extension from Amazon. Works fine.

    Upgrade Skyview Touch to HDX?

Just took advantage of the trade up offer and installed a 10” HDX. Everything from the old unit copied over to the new exactly as described in the instructions except for the USB data input wired into the D37. For some reason, the HDX doesn’t see it. Anybody else run into the same issue? Just...

    Chart upgrade

I think this is more of a personal taste sort of thing. Ken brings up some very valid points or "pros" for using the charts in the Dynon vs the iPad but as always, there are other things you may want to consider as well. The big one for me is that the charts from Seattle Avionics are "Rastor"...

    partial failure - pitot heat

You could just have it on all the time. Or at least if you are on an IFR flight, make it part of your before takeoff checklist, or after takeoff and after landing if you prefer. The Dynon Pitot heat cycles on an off, you are not going to burn it out. I know that in the GA world, pitot heat is...

    Chart upgrade

I have used Seattle Avionics charts and found that updating or loading the charts is easiest using the FlyQ app and slingshot. Haven't had any issues in that regard. Having said that, I don't like the fact that the charts can only be viewed in North Up and that is simply a limitation of them not...

New AGL map info item not working

I display fuel remaining as a time value, ie 4:00 hrs remaining and compare that to my time to destination value, ie 2:30 remaining. Same concept and information, just different values. I use my fuel at waypoint information for fuel progress checks against a nav log and for continue or divert...

    Space based ADSB

Delay #1. No sooner than 2026 and now delayed pending further assessment which leaves it pretty much wide open. https://www.navcanada.ca/en/news/news-releases/updated-timeline-for-ads-b-performance-mandate-in-canada-.aspx

    Aithre C0 detector

I guess you should take that up with Aithrie then because they refer to it as a widget on their support page.

Update for Canada: US and West EU or other?

A PocketFMS data subscription for the Dynon can be purchased for €119 a year. This gives you all of the obstacle and navigation/airport data for Canada and the US. It does not display an AIR5000 type of map, just the data. With that, you can see, search and display airspace info, waypoints...

Update for Canada: US and West EU or other?

I have been using Pocket FMS data and it works fine so far when I fly into the US. I also tried Seattle Avionics data which compared to Pocket FMS, is a total PITA to update and even though they claim to cover Southern Canada as far as the paper US Charts go, their data is seriously lacking...

    Aithre C0 detector

I installed mine last year and didn’t need any “secret file” from Dynon. Just followed the Dynon SV specific instructions from the Aithre website and downloaded the widget from their site. Set it up as a pressure sensor and that’s it. The last SV update cleared the widget but I just put it back.

    Airspeed Bug

So I managed to get to the airplane today and sure enough, in the autopilot pitch setup, was a minimum speed setting. I reduced this to my desired Vapp with flap 20 or 30, which was only a couple knots below what was there and bingo, I can now dial the bug back to what I want to see on approach...
