Own Ship Being Called Out As Traffic

My plane has a GRT Mini I use as a backup EFIS to the Skyview. The Mini also displays traffic. It gets this information from my Echo UAT while the Skyview gets it from the ADSB 472 module. Interestingly, the GRT Mini does not have this issue so they are able to filter effectively. The Mini shows...

What "Slant Code" Do I Use Now?

You do not need to inform ATC of your code verbally during routine frequency changes. Any flight plan you file will have the codes and they have access to that. If you did not file before takeoff but decide to do so airborne (due to weather change not forecast etc.) they will want you to file...

Can AOA paramters be determined from data log, and manually edited?

I think you only need a software setting. You can do the calibration all the way to the stall per the instructions. Once complete you go into the system settings for Audio. You will see two numbers for AOA Audio. If memory serves it is "Begins at ___%" and "Solid at ___%". This way you can set...

    Software Update Instructions

For the navigation database you only need one file. Get it from the Skyview database update page https://www.dynonavionics.com/us-aviation-obstacle-data.php. The file will download as FAA_av2009_ob2004_15.4.7.duc. To update only the navigation database you do not need other units powered...

    ads-b autonomous mode

The Dynon is a Mode S transponder. Anonymous mode is not possible with any Mode S transponder since they all send your N number every broadcast roughly once per second. It will take the FAA changing the system to allow the transmissions to be encrypted to prevent this. They have been quite...

    Kalvico Sensor 103757-000

The sensors are not set up through the network. You need to go to the EMS section and SENSOR INPUT MAPPING. Here is where you will find each pin of the EMS 220, the sensor used and the function label shown on your display. Changing to the new 103757-000 will require you to change the sensor on...

    sky view flight plans

Another option is to have the cursor on the end point of the first leg you would like to fly and use the "Activate Leg" from the same flight plan menu. That way both end points remain anchored and it can be done on the ground immediately after reversing the flight plan.

    Flight Planner & EFB

Garmin is extremely selective about allowing an outside source to send route data into their certified IFR navigators. My GNS 480 will not allow it at all. I think your GTN 625 does allow it but only from a couple select sources. Garmin tech support should be able to shed light onto this for you.

    Flight Plan Source Option

It is likely you just inadvertently turned it off. Go into the PFD menu then look for BRG 1 and BRG 2 buttons. These cycle the inputs among your sources for what each bearing pointer displays. On mine, the choices are VOR/LOC, GNS 480, and Skyview. The trick here is that if I go one further the...

    VNAV with skyview HDX

Dynon Support says you will get the VNAV glideslope when you are 5 minutes from the top of decent profile with the current firmware. On the previous firmware version it was shown most of the time which is the way I prefer it.

    PTT Increases EGT

Dynon does the same apply to ADAHRS? My vertical speed jumps when the mike is used. Engine instruments are stable.

    Loading Flight Plan

You can use several different programs to create a flight plan which will load directly into the Skyview. They are just text files. The key is the program needs to save the flight plan you created in .GPX format. If you create and save a flight plan in .GPX format on a USB stick all you need do...

    ADS-B NO RADAR ?

Jake, It may have to do with the Australian location. Tech support will know. They told me I would always see the "ADSB NO RADAR" message because the ADSB 472 could not filter out my ownship return since I do not use the Dynon transponder for ADSB out. The installation manual makes it seem the...

    ADS-B NO RADAR ?

I answered it on the Vans forum. According to Dynon tech support you will see this if you do not use the Dynon transponder for ADSB out. It does not affect the display of weather (including radar) on your map display. My plane does this as well.

Skyview Connected as Transponder Altitude Encoder

The 327 will take altitude over serial. This is a receive only function for the Skyview. Nothing is sent back to the Dynon. The settings are in the installation manual. The Dynon will not control a 327 (this would take a different TX/RX serial channel). It will report the code of the 327 if a...

Skyview Connected as Transponder Altitude Encoder

This configuration is in the installation manual. Check there for exact settings. From memory any Skyview serial port out set to Icarus. This goes to an available serial (RS 232) port in on the GTX 327. Set baud rate on the Dynon to the same as is on the 327. Even 1200 will work fine but they do...

Can Skyview send ADS-B to my GTN650?

That update limiting data transfer in Garmin certified navigators does apply. Garmin does not want uncertified devices sending information in to their certified navigators. If your 650 is run through the ARINC adapter into the Skyview, any changes made on the 650 will flow to the Skyview which...
