    Air/fuel ratio measurement

There is some discussion here on the AFR sensor. Bottom of the first page. http://dynonavionics.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1268164287/0

    Network Cable connections / decisions

I added my servos a year after I installed the Skyview. Rather than reroute I just cut the four wires in the network cable to the ADAHRS and used a 8 connector terminal strip to splice in the servo network cables and add the power and CWS button for the servos. I crimped both ends of the cut...

Making your own EMS sensor definitons

I tried the AIR FUEL RATIO sensor defined above but it needs more work. I loaded the file and in the EMS settings associated the AIR FUEL RATIO sensor with pin C37_22 which is my Ray Allen flaps potentiometer. On the debug page it shows information changing as I move the flaps up and down, When...

    what's next

I think I read a request for a scripting language for the Skyview here before, but a simple data capture and translation would be nice for those devices that output a serial data stream. P-Mags and EFII come to mind but there are others. The Garmin handhelds output radio frequency data. It would...

    Flap Torque

I run into a snag with my upgrade to VP-X. The electric flap actuator on my Glasair II requires a 15A c/b. The VP-X (and FPS) only allow a 10A c/b. It's been suggested that most flap actuators require less than 10A. So I did some digging and found a nice linear actuator with a potentiometer...

Making your own EMS sensor definitons

Thanks Randall. I'll keep that in mind when I install the mixture knob. I can see that it could be disaster to go lean with WOT. Maybe we can convince Dynon to interface with the SDS system the same way they did with VP-X and manage the SDS ECU from Skyview.

Making your own EMS sensor definitons

Ok. You have my interest as I'm adding electronic fuel injection this winter and need an oxygen sensor to tune it so I did some reading. I believe the linear formula for 0 volts=7.35, 5 volts=22.39 is AFR = 3.008 x volts + 7.35 where 3.008 is the slope (X1) and 7.35 if the Y intercept (X0). So...

Making your own EMS sensor definitons

Since it is a linear conversion you may be able to use one of the level or position definitions and put the conversion in the EMS file as a user calibration. That way you wouldn't have to mess with the sensor*.sfg file. Do a backup of your Skyview and then look for a file called *ems*.dfg. If...

    Audio wires

Good point. I'm going to be up to my elbows in the panel with the VP-X transplant this winter so will spend some time on troubleshooting the problem.

    Audio wires

Ummm. Nope. Not that smart. Even if that did work it kind of defeats the purpose of the intercom. I hooked up a GPS495 to a Flightcom 403 for another guy and he said that some of the screens created a lot of background noise so he disconnected his also. I didn't hear it so can't comment if it...

    AP74 & Servo Circuit Breakers

I used a single 5A breaker and a single switch for the two servos on my Skyview. It just means that a fault on one device would put the whole AP out of commission. If you can tolerate that then add the AP74 to the same breaker and use a single switch for the entire AP system.

    Audio wires

Dave Yeah. I was getting use to the 500 foot announcement on final. Had to shut the terrain warning off in the mountains. Everywhere I pointed resulted in "Pull Up. Pull UP! Terrain" Just to try and find the real culprit here, do you have the PM1200 or is the GPS495 the common element. Does...

    Shunt location when using VP-X?

I agree. I struggled with backup systems for a couple of months now but decided that the best method would be to run everything from the VP-X. However, my ELT switch is wired directly to the battery as is the clock in some systems so I don't think there is an alternative for some devices. These...

    Shunt location when using VP-X?

When the shunt is between the alternator and the rest of the system (Position B in the install manual) I suspect it will always show the total current including the current flow to (or from) the battery. The 2.5A in the above picture is to the battery. So if a device is connected directly to the...

    what's next

Virtual VOR - got it. Dial in the runway heading, intercept back a ways from the threshold and turn final on intercept. Sometimes it takes us VFR only (grew up on GPS) guys a while to figure it out. I kind of like the green runway extensions on the Garmin handheld GPS products. Same idea but...

Just out of curiosity, what would be the difference to flying to a GPS point on the airfield.

    Audio wires

I have the PM1200 intercomm from PS Engineering. I had popping sound coming from the Skyview so I disconnected the Skyview audio. Dynon said to send the unit back and they would fix it. I plan to do that come winter. I also had my GPS495 connected to the PM1200 and had a static background noise...

    3.2.2 Update Problem

Thanks for the update and checklist Bear. I don't have the complications of multiple screens but will definitely be checking that the updates were all done. I think the network page is a good place to look, but it doesn't display the other screens if there are any.

    3.2.2 Update Problem

After I rethought it, I'm almost certain the red X appeared when I pushed the AP ALT hold button. So the out-of-date servos probably crashed the system although the MAP page stayed on. The recovery was impressive. and automatic.

D100 Autopilot problem: Un-commanded right Roll??

The symptoms sound the same as mine except in pitch. My AP would occasionally pitch up to an extreme angle. It finally completely failed. I exchanged the servo as it was on warranty. I also upgraded to the SV42 and have had no problems since.
