To quote the original post:
"it can be almost impossible to tell the difference between + and - on a busy screen"
Not to bicker but I read "busy screen" as clutter. The option available that I proposed would, I think, help for that purpose.
Thanks for the feedback. As Jake mentioned, I probably don't have room for a 7" screen with my current layout but could move things around to make it happen.
Something to ponder after paint.
I currently have dual SV1000T screens with a typical configuration of:
Left screen = PFD/MAP (50/50)
Right screen = EMS/PFD (50/50)
I've tried using 40/40/20 with EMS in the 20 but am not comfortable with the compact views and limited space (though I might get there some day). I would really...
The part that doesn't add up, Alan, is that the stick is moving but the airplane is not. If there really is no play in the control system, the airplane would have to move with the stick, don't you think?
I haven't dealt with a hall type sensor but I have a P-Mag (electronic ignition) that sends voltage directly to the Dynon EMS. The P-Mag documentation provides the output information necessary to determine the correct input to the Dynon EMS.
You will likely need to contact the MFG of the...
I think it would add to the amount of installation work, though I haven't any experience with its installation. I have the Dynon setup you plan to install in my RV-7A, which took about 3 months of weekends (~12-15 days) to complete. The network wiring is as simple as it gets. Engine, auto-pilot...
I may have spoken incorrectly. I know FF gets weather from my Skyview system (SV1000T) but don't recall if traffic is also present since I don't really use FF for much more than route updates. Skyview has it all so that's where my focus is when looking for ADS-B reported traffic.
If you do not have a Stratus tied to FF but have the Dynon WiFi dongle, FF can connect and get traffic and weather from the EFIS (not directly from the 470/472, per se). This functionality is provided by FF, for the most part.
The need to change to NONE is documented in the installation manual but I agree it would be an easy software change to have it do this automatically when in TEST mode.
I have the AP panel and used to enable the AP, then tell it what to do. I now tell it what to do, then enable it, which seems a better workflow. Usually three button pushes.
As mentioned above and in chapter 16 of the installation manual, a toggle switch is used.
In the proposed configuration, I suspect only one radio can receive input from the SV screen.
Each radio's volume knob would be used.
I installed that setup in a Lancair 235. The one thing you will need is a switch to toggle/select the radio you want to use for transmit. You'll use each radio's volume control to allow listening (or not) of both radios at the same time.
I have Dynon's radio and intercom in my RV-7A and love...
