Were you getting the high spikes with the lightspeed outputs as well? Or would that drop out and go low? What kind of tach drive output do you have it hooked up to? And which inputs are you using on the EMS (assuming this is SkyView)?

It's EMS module pin one or two, so it needs to be connected explicitly. Check in your pin mapping under ems setup to see where it thinks it's connected, and then check and see if you have a wire from that pin measuring voltage.

One think I'd check is the alert log - which is one of the files exported as part of the user data log - and check that those cautions are related to the disconnect warning. Beyond that, I'd also double-check that the resistor is actually 5K by measuring it.

You really do need pitot/static for the D6. Else you won't have any airspeed or altitude. Airspeed is also the preferred source for attitude crosscheck - you'll in fact get a caution message ("gps assist") on the display if you're in flight and airspeed has gone away.
