    Capacive fuel senders

Ok - starting to see the light. The converter limits the resolution which is not necessarily the precision that is displayed. I had a look at the data for one of my tanks. The differences between calibration points is: 0.1561 0.2056 0.0719 0.0513 0.0120 0.0086 0.0086 0.0073 0.0074 These are...

    Capacive fuel senders

Brantel - I believe all of the Dynon inputs are analog. (Page 4-13 of the Installation Manual). The capacitance to voltage converter is just converting from volume to pressure which are both analog measures. If the sensors are analog wouldn't the number of calibration points be infinite...

    Capacive fuel senders

The magnitude of the measurement is probably more related to the sensor then Skyview. In your case the difference is (1.389 - 1.049) = 0.340 or 340 descrete calibration points. If the tank held 340 gallons it may be accurate to one gallon. If it holds 34 gallons then the resolution is 1/10 of a...

    FAA vs Jeppesen Databases

Given that the Jeppesen data has less info then the FAA data in the USA it's possible they use their own sources for the USA as well as the rest of the world.

D100 - my compass does not indicate good values

Re: D100 - my compass does not indicate good value The compass on my Skyview only had two directions, west or north. I found magnetic interference near the ADAHRS. Once I removed that all was Ok.

    SkyView System Integration - SL30 & Becker Mode S

Re: SkyView System Integration - SL30 & Becker Mod The Garmin SL30 RS232 can be connected directly to the Skyview RS232. Select the SL30 device in the Skyview serial port configuration. Becker output is aviation format. I don't believe the Skyview can read TIS over aviation format. Skyview...

    AP Quick disconect

You just have to ground the yellow wire on the servo to disengage. Same concept as PTT and same type of switch so any momentary switch on the stick will work and any number of switches can be used. If two are pressed they are just grounding the circuit so it does the same function. The switch...

    SV-MAP-270 = 3.0 ??

Good marketing would have been to charge us $600 with one free Jeppensen update ;). We are in the same situation in Canada. I appreciate the 30 hour free trial usage. While there are some airports near the border and some obstacles that show up in the US data here in Canada I think the $100 (or...

    SkyView VP-X Support Announced

As I understand it, the VP-X is the main bus. I believe you connect the power from the battery solenoid directly to the VP-X and every thing is powered from it. Anything that had a breaker or fuse previously is now powered from the VP-X. The difference of course is that the circuits can have...

SkyView 3.0 G-meter, and other fun stuff

Ok - This isn't a survey, but what's your best guess at the manuever in the G-meter display. My guess is that he was on downwind and was cleared to land long so he cut it short, laid it over to the left and is just pulling out of his dive to round up about midfield. I'm not sure where the...

Map Features - Your Input Requested

Ditto. A quick look at the flight path marker confirms that the plane is being pushed to the left by the 12kt xwind which explains the difference between the magnetic heading and ground track. Too illustrate the point of useful information all in one place I was trying to make my way through...

    Manifold Pressure Sensor Location

I bought the P-Mags and support told me that the best place to get MAP is from the line to the existing MAP sensor. I plan to T in once for each P-Mag. The E-Mag/P-Mag are self contained so there are no separate control units to mount. It's all in the engine compartment although they neeed to be...

Map Features - Your Input Requested

I believe the map and synthetic vision both give some valuable infomation about the ground level and obstacles. I used both on my trip to the Canadian Rockies last summer. The within 1000' (yellow) and within 100' and above (red) make avoiding terrain (and obstacles) simple. I wouldn't use it to...

I like the MGL compass rose. It's large but unintrusive. Nice use of the screen space. Probably a selling point for them. On the other hand, the only reason I follow the HSI is for instrument training under the hood. Given my own devices I use the GPS495 for navigation. There is much more...

Serial 1  GPS Settings for a Garmin 295

Re: Serial 1  GPS Settings for a Garmin 295 Page 92 of the 295 manual shows the wiring and page 88 showns the interface settings page. You need to set NMEA out 9600 baud. Don't forget to set SV port one serial in to the proper device and baud rate.
