Android Apps that work with SV

FWIW: I have dual DYNON 7" screens with WIFI modules on each screen. My SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab S2 tablet (Android) connects quickly to my SkyView WIFI. However, FltPlanGo will only display weather (no traffic) if I use the >EXTERNAL >ADS-B DEVICES >CUSTOM UNIT with port 4000. FltPlanGo knows about...

    IFR Procedures (Foreflight/GNS430W/Flight Stream)

Learn to aviate IFR first. This is what will keep you alive. And yes, you can use the "fancy electronics" to learn how to aviate IFR. After you get "comfortable" aviating under the hood then you can use more of the "fancy electronics" to reduce your navigation workload. It doesn't matter what...

    ADSB 472

Perfect, no. But I there is no better system  available to avoid the actual impact. YMMV PS: Snarkyness was reciprocal. 8-)

    ADSB 472

And I suggest you read the ENTIRE post. I highlighted the relevant part for you so you don't have to work too hard. 8-)

    ADSB 472

Oh yes they do and can. No one system is 100% infallible. Using multiple systems each augmenting the other's weakness is the absolute best approach to increased safety. Blindly thinking that one system will provide 100% safety is foolish at best. Of all the available systems, the mark I...

    calibrating airspeed?

Or putting an air dam in front or behind the static hole depending on what your error is. Here is a link to a thread covering this issue in depth. http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=145686&highlight=static+error

    ADSB 472

FWIW: I disconnected my 472 unit and am using a STRATUX dual band receiver I built for just under $200. It sends traffic & weather via WIFI to my Android tablet running the free FltPlanGo app. Ok, so I don't have the data on my SkyView screen(s) but I have it in my airplane which is the idea. ...

    AOA Calibration Questions

I did my calibration power off at 1/2 flaps. FWIW: I approach and land with full flaps keeping the audible tone just off until I start the flare. At that point I close the throttle and pull the nose up enough so the audible tone just starts coming on. I keep the nose up with the tone getting...

    ILS Backcourse

And how does this help understand the issue being discussed in this thread? Hint: It doesn't.   ;)

    ILS Backcourse

Yes I was and I had the CRS dialed in to display the outbound heading just as a reminder. I don't remember dialing it back to the inbound heading, which is something I normally do to remind me what the final approach course is. On the G430W, it suspends while you are outbound on the hold. When...

    ILS Backcourse

THANKS! I thought the "CRS" knob did not having any effect on the LOC signal but I guess I was wrong. I normally set the "CRS" knob to the inbound course just as a reference but this time I didn't do that. I am almost sure I left it on the outbound leg of the procedure turn I had just done so...

    ILS Backcourse

We were doing a practice ILS approach at KSGJ and both SkyView CDI's (G430W) were indicating a backcourse instead of a regular course. At the same time my 2nd ILS (VAL429, not connected to the SkyView displays) was indicating correctly. Both were displaying a correct glideslope. Is there a...

Mexican / Central Am. plates/diagrams available

OK. So are these (Jepp or Pocket FMS databases) provided by SA via DM or are they a separate subscription? :-?

Mexican / Central Am. plates/diagrams available

OK. I manually updated DM. I then had it check for DYNON SkyView ChartData and it shows green dots on the USB drive(s) so I assume the data is there. Now how do I get it to display the plates/airport diagrams on the SkyView screen in the airplane?. :-?

    ADSB 472

Except that if you fly outside the US (Bahamas, Canada, Mexico etc..) 1090 provides some coverage while 978 provides no coverage. I will take some coverage over no coverage any day of the week so the difference between single and dual band receivers can be significant. Bring on the 472 fix! 8-)

Mexican / Central Am. plates/diagrams available

I have a SA subscription and download data on to a USB stick using the SkyView option using their PC based Chart Data Manager. But Chart Data Manager does not give any option to download the additional country data. Nor is there any option for PocketFMS. So my question is how do I access this...

Mexican / Central Am. plates/diagrams available

So I download Jepp or Pocket FMS data to the USB device then plug that into the SlyView display? :-?

Mexican / Central Am. plates/diagrams available

So how do I go about downloading this data? Does this mean I have to download the data from Chart Manager as Pocket FMS not as Dynon Skyview? :-?
