That is correct. My Glasair has the HSI indicate the Skyview active waypoint, one pointer shows the external GPS waypoint and the other points to a VOR.

Think of it as two items. One is choosing the map source and second is choosing the autopilot source. Go to the flight plan. At the bottom it will allow you to choose which source is displayed on the map. You will still see tabs for both the 430 and the Skyview (could be completely different...

Aviation and obstacle databases are kept current. This has happened with previous versions of those so I do not think it is new. My software version is the one just prior to 12.2 as I do not have the transponder.

For what it is worth, I have seen the same thing in my system. The workaround I have been using is to display the flight plan, highlight the destination and then press INFO. The normal box comes up with all the correct tabs. Mine is a single system, current databases, all data on the map...

Jake is right as usual. The backup battery will only charge when the Skyview is on and above battery voltage. The other simple solution is to go fly. Don't know about you, but for me any excuse to fly is a good one!
